Updating an earlier story, Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Dallas Cowboys will pay CB Anthony Henry a signing bonus of $10 million, as he recently agreed to terms with the club. Complete financial details were undisclosed.

Jaguars sign DE Hayward
March 2, 2005

JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Ticker) - The Jacksonville Jaguars addressed a pressing need Wednesday, signing free agent defensive end Reggie Hayward.

Terms were not disclosed, but the team will hold a news conference Thursday morning to introduce its new pass rusher.

Hayward, 25, led Denver with 10 1/2 sacks last season, when he started 15 games - including the Broncos' AFC wild card loss at Indianapolis. He recorded 60 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery while forcing one fumble.

A third-round pick in 2001 out of Iowa State, Hayward also had one sack and two tackles in the postseason loss to the Colts.

In 47 career games with the Broncos, Hayward registered 22 sacks and 75 tackles.

Last season, the Jaguars were led in sacks by defensive end Greg Favors and defensive tackle John Henderson, who recorded 5 1/2 apiece.

Jacksonville also signed defensive tackle Martin Chase, a seven-year veteran who missed the entire 2004 season with the New York Giants due to a knee injury. Chase appeared in 13 games with Washington in 2003, recording 12 tackles.

As Houston moved closer to a deal with Bills defensive tackle Pat Williams to be their nose tackle, current Texans nose tackle Seth Payne got word of potentially losing his job and quickly signed a deal.

Payne, 30, agreed to a four-year, $16 million contract that includes a $4.5 million signing bonus

Maybe Shanahan is sitting back letting all the 'overpayers' get first dibs and than get the left overs?

That's exactly what it appears we're going to end up with, leftovers.

I'm starting to get worried. The plan wasn't supposed to go like this. Something is going on..............

Plan was to be big tackle Willimams or Payne , then Havon and or Burgess, DeLoachfor DE and eat OG Andruzzi or Wahle (if released) which he was!

Seems like Warren fell out of the sky (cheaper)

Now they did plan to go with soem cheaper guys such as K Clancy, Bobby Hamilton, Okeafor or Vander Bosh and Marcus Bell. But that was if they lost Pope,Ellis, or Davis!

Gold wasn't in the plans. They thought they had Kennedy wrapped. Garcia wasn't in the original plan. They tried for Frank but got "Sticker shock"

I'm worried that the Broncos have gone cost cutting!!! Almost like they under estameted the market and over estameted their chances of keeping people!

The San Diego Chargers, quiet on the opening day of free agency, have scheduled visits with return specialist Allen Rossum of Atlanta and safety Bhawoh Jue of Green Bay for Thursday.

The Oakland Raiders were close to signing free-agent running back LaMont Jordan, who was in town to meet with the team Wednesday.

"We have a deal in principle that he should sign tomorrow morning -- 99.9 percent sure he will be a Raider," Jordan's agent, Alvin Keels, said in an e-mail Wednesday night

Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Arizona Cardinals are close to completing a deal to trade CB Duane Starks, for a third-round draft choice in 2005, to the New England Patriots.

There is no way Pat Williams gave them sticker shock with the deal he signed with the Vikes.

I think Shanny (again) has not caught on that teams are identifying who they want, and making it happen on Day 1. Players are no longer making multiple visits before deciding, teams get them to town and are not letting them leave.

Free agency is more then one day long, but the lack of any initial push by Denver is rather disheartening

He must feel this team really only needs a tweak here and there.........

Damn Atleast we re-signed Hamilton. 1 outta 3 isn't bad.....errrrrrrrr ummmm

All this typing, scanning, sirius radio, Cell phone using as me dizzy.

The Dallas Cowboys have re-signed unrestricted free agent DL Leonardo Carson to a one-year contract, according to Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com.

The Dallas Cowboys have re-signed unrestricted free agent S Lynn Scott to a one-year contract, according to Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com.

---------------

Sticker shock was from Bubba Franks. Not Williams.

" I think Shanny (again) has not caught on that teams are identifying who they want, and making it happen on Day 1. Players are no longer making multiple visits before deciding, teams get them to town and are not letting them leave."

I have to agree with this. The days of the late 90's are gone. Some deals where done before the weekend. Tampering yes, but those teams got the deals done too fast.
