I tried to get into some of the "adult" anime, but it's pretty sad, as well. Give me Heavy Metal:The Movie any day over the adult anime...

Japanese anime reproduced for American viewers sucks.

Japanese anime in Japan, uncensored, does not suck. Its hardcore.

I went to a animation film festival in Minneapolis back in the late '80's... there were a lot of Japanese anime films that were supposedly all the rage. I thought they sucked. Horrible animation, rendering, and movement was almost non existant. Some of the gringo films were okay, but way over the top, elitist art fag stuff. It didn't do much to entertain me. Maybe I'm just a stiff.

Thats the downfall for me. Its not much of the storyline or plot(I think they were good), but the character drawing and over the top characters and over the top **** really turned me off.

When I just look at the art, it makes me puke.

I mostly agree. There are a lot of repeated themes in Anime that make me want to vomit: Excessive use of ninjas, people living in Japan with green, purple, blue, ad nauseum colored hair, People living in at least the twentieth century if not the far future still fighting with swords and defeating those who tr yto use guns, young hero's who are such cocky a-holes to everyone that at each fight sequence you are excited because the HERO could die, terrible moments of rage everytime the hero is almost dead and then he pulls some "super technique" out of his ass that he seems to have forgotten about the whole show and kills the seemingly invincible bad guy in one hit, the need to put school girls in everything; even if the story takes place in the 16th century, Stupid, ugly predictable Giant ****ing robots, and finally - this

I watched all 291 episodes of Dragonball Z, the japanese uncensored subtitled version. I thought it was pretty cool, but besides that I haven't watched too much. I used to enjoy Tenchi Muyo and Ranma 1/2, though.

DBZ in Japanese rocked. DBGT was childish though.

Scantily clad HS girls kicking ass in comical fashion is good stuff in my book...
