if you are losing coolant , and there is no visable leak , then you have a cracked head ..... either way , sounds as if you have been driving it hot , unload it at a car dealership ......

Hey they told me that it may be a cracked head, it release alot of smoke, when you turn it on, I have seen a car with cracked heads and it doesn're release nearly as much, this seemed like it may be related to the fuel emission system in terms of the smoke so I decided to change the spark plugs and the tips or head were almost melted. In terms of the Running hot I have changed the fan and fan motor, I think I even changed my radiator. I removed the Thermostat before, but I put it back in because it supposively help with fuel consumption. Reason im driving it now is because I crashed my other car on the freeway on the 31st and hopefully if things go well the insurance company will total it. |

the sparks plugs huh? I think your right, because it lets out this smell like oil or smoke and it stinkin up all my clothes. Plus all of o sudden it doesnt seem to hold oil tha well and it is always marking that the coolant level is low. Thanks for caring, I wasnt hurt bad, had a sore neck and back for about a day but when that happens I usually keep it moving instead of letting it stiffen up. Im mentally kinda scarred. It's been raining really hard the last couple of weeks. I was on the last lane on the 101 Ventura going North. on that lane you are right next to center devider no shoulder lane. I guess I hit a puddle of water and my car swirved and I swiped the devider, bounced of it and was going accross the freeway and hit a commercial truck. The car behind put the breaks and lost control and hit the devider also and wound up facing on comming traffic. The truck behind the car that swerved slammed on the breaks and got rearended by a small toyota truck. The toyota truck is now spending the rest of its life as an accordian. Noboby got hurt thank GOD. I still feel like **** about the whole mess right on New Years eve. I can never catch a feakin break oh well now a cracked head sheeeesh!! |

Go to your local auto parts store that lends tools and borrow a coolant system pressure tester. Real easy to use and should help you pinpoint your leak. Are you losing coolant over time? Also the sparkplugs by your leaking gasket/cracked head (if you have one) should be VERY clean like they've been steamcleaned.

I've owned enough cars with problems that i can't fix problems i can diagnose them and i'd say some head work is def. what's going on.
Right now i have a '90 chrysler new yorker that when you start it up it idles rough then when it warms up it smooths out. i think it just needs a tune up. the check engine light comes on now and again but not all the time. It was owned by a 91yr old man, so i think it drastically needs one. |

Is it a 3.1 or a 2.8? I have two 2.8's one works the other doesn't. I hadn't had too much luck with the 2.8 so I put a 3.1 in my Cav before I gave it to my brother. Don't know much about cars but I know I have the parts

Hey Spide, the thing about the crack head though is that I had an 84 BMW 318i and that thing would let out a smoke screen like in the 80's video game Spy Hunter and it was white smoke like steam, cuzz supposively when the heads crack water gets into the engine causing white smoke or steam in this case its actual smoke like cars that need a smog check. if it's a cracked head then what is the best way to find out. Mechanics are not like some PC techs like me. I do work for cheap if it ever comes around these dudes are alligators |

Another thing when we changed the sparks plugs the guy that helped me out told me that they come pre gapped. I didnt thinnk that was case and I listened to him. Turns out they need to be gapped at 45. Two days later in the morning since its been cold as hell here the car stalled and it would try to turn over but just chuggle .
This caused me to be late to work. So I got to get that fixed ASAP, now is that the reason why it kinda lags to kick into gear or is like you said that it may be screwin up my tranny man I havent even touched the starter issue |
