Default OSU AD Andy Geiger retiring...happy now?

...Or does OSU need to fully implode with probation and Tressel firing as well for everyone to finally lay off of us?

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=1959553

Wednesday, January 5, 2005

Associated Press

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State athletic director Andy Geiger is retiring after two years of turmoil that included allegations of improper benefits by football star Maurice Clarett.

Geiger and school president Karen Holbrook planned to attend a news conference at 1 p.m. ET Wednesday.

From the time Clarett led the Buckeyes to the national championship in 2002, the school's athletic department has been beset by NCAA investigations of its football and men's basketball programs.

After leading Ohio State to the national title as a freshman, Clarett was suspended for lying to investigators during an NCAA probe of allegations that he received improper benefits from a family friend.

Geiger, 65, has been athletic director since 1994.

He fired basketball coach Jim O'Brien and football coach John Cooper and dealt with the recent embarrassments, but also oversaw an unprecedented building spree on campus that included the expansion of 83-year-old Ohio Stadium and the construction of Value City Arena and Bill Davis Stadium.

Welcome to CU's world. You gotta clean house completely before you're clear of it.

Retiring is a nice way to say he was forced out....He was slime and deserved to be canned. Glad to see him get what he deserved.

But OSU are the bad guys.

Like the Movie Scarface, when he's at the restaurant after him and his wife get in a huge fight, "You need people like me, so you can point and say 'thats the bad guy', so what does that make you? Good? You're not the good guy, you just know how to hide it."

Many do...but most handle themselves with much more class than this joker...His pathetic smear campaign attempts at Clarett were exactly that...pathetic.

This makes me laugh. Oh yeah DF, I was playing some NCAA 05 in dynasty mode. O$U got put on probation for 3 years for recruiting violations. Also noteworthy, Tennessee also got put on probation, but they only lossed 5 scholarships a year for 2 years. Man, finally EA made a game that is truly realistic.

I got put on probation in my dynasty for 2 years at Tennessee, my skill players would keep getting in trouble and I kept giving them a lesser punishment, no way was I sitting Erik Ainge for 3 games all cause he had an impoper relationship with a female booster, sit a half and let's win in the 2nd

Lmao! I've won back to back NC with CU. And thats because I run a tight ship. One fatass lineman "broke several rules". I suspended him for 6 games. Then I cut his ass the next spring. Teach him a thing or too. I also had a guy messing around with a booster. He got 3 games.

Edit: BTW, you sure do sound like Tressel and Stoops. Sit em a half against a crappy team. See, punishment...we care about our players.

haha I actually suspend according to my schedule, if a guy misses a class and deserves 1 game, I check who our next game is.."LA Tech next on the schedule? Yeah you can sit out this game," or "Damn, we got Georgia next, no way in hell I;m sitting my star WR for this one!"

Like I said...you're sounding like Tressel and Stoops.

I've got to get Xbox live now. I want to take my game online.

Jim Tressel should not only stay as HC of the Buckeyes, but also be promoted to AD as well and carry a dual-role.

Well, it would make his job easier. He wouldn't have to get the AD's approval before he buys a player...
