Tonight on Altitude they're showing a live telecast of a Weber State/Southern Utah University men’s college basketball game. At the same time on Fox Sports Rocky Mountain is a women’s college basketball game between Colorado and Colorado State. How many people, besides family and friends of these players and college hoops junkies, are actually going to watch these match-ups? Ugh, at least Lost was on for an hour. It probably goes without saying that ESPN and ESPN2 are showing college basketball as well tonight, at least they're probably showing good teams. I'm not going to even check.
No NHL is just killing me. I'm so used to attending games once or twice a week and watching the rest of the games around the league on NHL Center Ice. Nothing is better on a fall Saturday than watching college football all morning and day and then tuning into the Hockey Night in Canada doubleheader. I miss Don Cherry’s Coaches Corner and late night games featuring Calgary or Edmonton (I certainly don’t miss the times that the freaking Vancouver Canucks play on HNiC, that team can rot in hell for all I care). I just don't like basketball, particularly college bball. I can only get into basketball during the NCAA tournament, and even that has lost my interest more and more every year. Ever since I moved back to Colorado in late-October I've seen a bunch of terrible college basketball match-ups on Altitude and Fox Sports Rocky Mountain. Altitude shows Denver University women’s basketball on their regular lineup and I bet less than 1,000 people in their entire broadcast region actually watch these games. There's literally nobody in the stands, I can imagine how many are watching at home. The one thing I do like about Altitude and Fox Sports Rocky Mountain right now without the NHL playing is the classic Avalanche games on Altitude and DU and CC college hockey on FSRM. I've watched a few Colorado Eagles minor league hockey games on Altitude and I just can't get into it. Hearing Peter McNab and Mike Haynes on those telecasts is funny, though. In the past month I've heard Haynes doing play-by-play for college basketball, college football (Colorado School of Mines), high school football, and minor league hockey. Talk about a guy that wants the NHL to come back. I'm rambling now, but another thing that's changed in the two years that I've been gone is Comcast Channel 5, which shows rec league inline hockey, high school girl’s volleyball, and high school band competitions. Who in the world watches this crap? ![]() |

I am on the absolute opposite end of the spectrum. I can't stand hockey. Hell, my school is the reigning national college champ and I could care less.
However, there are people who love it... So for the sake of you, Tredici, Clockwork, and others, let's hope those guys get their act together soon. Although for the time being, I will savor my weekends full of football and my weekdays full of Pro and College hoops. |

Have fun watching Weber St. and Southern Utah and stay out of hockey threads and all will be cool. |

i understand your frustration Breck. Next to football, hockey is my favorite. I am depressed i cant see the (very slow) maturation of my Penguins this year with Fleury in net. I wish it could start already but i dont think we will see squat this year...the whole year.

![]() It's cool you want the NHL to come back for hockey fans, I appreciate that. It just gets tiresome seeing your numerous confessions that you don't like hockey. We know you don't like it, so hopefully you won't have to say it anymore. I don't know why you even read hockey threads if you dislike it so much, I sure don't read the Nuggets thread or any other BBall stuff, except last year for the Kobe/Colorado/Eagle situation and the Artest thing two weeks ago . |

I blame the Avalanche for the reason why we are in this situation. Teams like the Avs have brought players over the years while teams like the Kings, Devils, and other successful small-market teams can't even compete so I can understand why small-market owners want to take a stand. Face it! This is about the NHL Owners vs. the Avalanche.

I still love the gem that Jazzfan gives us by calling the Los Angeles Kings a small market team

I've kinda accepted the fact that this season is gone for good.
Really, I just want my Flyers to come out of all this somewhat intact.....that's what I'm hoping for...as to what to watch post-NFL.....I'm at a real loss but I think pitchers and catchers report to camp in early march right? |
