The recount can't start until the results have been certified by Blackwell, and he won't certify until Monday. Then I believe it is in the courts right now whether or not the Greens and Libertarians have to pay for the entire recount, which will cost a few million dollars, or if they only have to pay a lower amount that they already have.
All that finally happened today is that the provisionals were counted and tallied. Won't matter though, Kerry is not making up 120k votes in a recount. Gore could only make up a few hundred votes using more liberal standards in just heavily Democratic counties. In Ohio the recount standards are law and are pretty strict on what is countable and what isn't. There's only a tiny chance Kerry will put it under 100k. |

you should read how the AP is spinning it though, they are proclaiming what great strides Kerry made in the count and the probablility of an official recound is much more likely, with Kerry's chances better of winning it.
The narrowing of Bush's margin only increases the possibility that the election results could be changed, the Green Party said. "Who knows what else will turn up when we examine the discarded ballots?" Green spokesman Blair Bobier asked. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...l_pr/ohio_vote |
