Default Firefox 1.0 Anyone using it besides me?

I got firefox about 3 days ago and I can honestly say, I will never use IE again. Firefox is soooo much faster than IE its like night and day. I heard all the hype about the tabbed browsing and thought who gives a crap. Well I can tell you this... If you post on multiple sites or do the news thing like I do on RKA you'll see the value.

No I'm not one of the people who has been asked to promote this new browser. I'm just an advocate of surfing the web as quickly & easily as possible while having new features that always work!

I'd been using the older version of Firefox, but recently downloaded 1.0... I'd definitely recommend Firefox, too.

Microsoft is in trouble.... I know that they're sweating bullets. They will have to come out with something tremendous to get me to stop using this browser. I just love the fact that I can customize my tool bar and my Favorites Menu

No Nortons.... ? I'm hooked on the password / forms manager thing. It will automatically fill out forms and is a safe way to store passwords. One click of a button and I can order whatever... not that I do lots of stuff like that but, If you subscribe to www.contracostatimes.com or mercurynews.com you might have to fill out their stupid form if you forget your password and fake address info .

The tabbed browsing is the best part, I think...but I've also found that pages load better with Firefox... no more "page cannot be displayed" messages that I frequently encountered with IE.

Ive been using Firefox for about 8 months now. I use IE for one thing, filling out forms. And only because Google toolbar doesnt work for firefox yet (that auto fill feature on that toolbar kicks ass for what I do).

Tabbed browsing rocks because it keeps your taskbar clean and un-cluttered however, ALT-TAB which is a very heavily used feature on my keyboard has become useless. Perhaps there is a way to switch between tabs without the mouse, a hotkey, but I do not know it. I avoid the mouse and this is now one of the times I am forced to use the damn thing.

But, I havent bothered with IE for surfing since I got Firefox and wont ever go back. WHen I first started using it, a few plugins wouldnt work, but as each new version (pre 1.0) came out, more and more plugins were available for it and now there isnt anything (except google toolbar) that doesnt work.

It rocks.

I've been using it for a couple of weeks - just upgraded to the latest version (1.0 final). The tabs and the pop-up blocking are superb. I don't care much for the plain look of the brower, but there are various skins you can download that look better. It doesn't work with all of the various audio and video plug-ins out there, but the latest upgrade is an improvement. One warning - people who use Panda antivirus (myself included) sometimes have problems running Firefox. I've found Firefox to be more user-friendly than IE. Also, Microsoft is apparently not going to offer free upgrades to IE anymore unless you purchase their latest operating system. I don't want to fatten Bill Gates' wallet with my cash.

Something really cool I just found out about firefox.

This works on IE if you have google's toolbar but Firefox comes standard with it.

Just type in the name of the website in the adress bar. For instance, if you type in Orangemane in the address bar, it will bring you here. If you type in NASA it takes you to nasa.gov. If you type in Central Intelligence Agency it takes you to cia.gov. If you type in Oxford University it takes you to ox.uk.edu or something.

It doesnt work on all things, but it works on a lot of things (Max, RKA and Raiders Kick Ass take you to Amazon for something or another).

Anyway, just thought I would fill ya in.

The tabs are great, but wish it would open up new windows in tabs instead of new windows.

Hold down CTRL when you click on something that opens in a new window and it will open in a new tab.

Try WinMX - much better than Kazaa (no spyware). Just watch out for the Feds.

I still use IE for most things. You still can't move and combine toolbars with Firefox to make larger screen areas. IE is faster on a lot of sites because they were built for IE. Also, a lot of sites won't display properly in Firefox as they were designed for IE. Once they figure out how to let you move the toolbars I'll use it more.

P2P sucks.

BitTorrents are the way to go. Gauranteed no virus', no spyware, no adware and things are actually what they are named.

Beerslug, what skin (theme) are you using? I like yours better than the default.
