I dont know to much about cars. but whats some way to get more HP?
i'm buying a 1999 Mazda Protege LX (4 cyl. DOHC 16-Valve) i found a site and the spec says 105 hp @ 5800 rpm Well i wanted to compare which was faster. the 99' or my old car. Which is a 1997 Chevy Cavalier Coupe. 120 hp @ 5000 RPM. I dont know to much about cars, so which one is faster? and like i asked before what are some ways of making it faster? |

Both are 4 cylinders (no power/fast) You would need a 6 cyl. engine to get the power you want. Now there are site out there that will give you ideas and sell you add-ons for power.
Seems like with the Mazda you get mer RPM (Revolution Per Min.) than the Cavy, but you'll lose Hoursepower (overall). So you may want to go with a smaller wheel package and high performance tire. You can get better engine performance from a dual exhuast system. Now some newer cars have a computer chip that will limit the max speed you can go. My car happens to have one and so does my buddies. Now I have never got up to the shut of speed, but he has and when he hit 120 his car shut took control and slow it self down. An alarm sound went off and the dash lighs flashed like a christmas tree. So what I'm saying is faster isn't better. Unless it's Nascar. Sounds like you have been watching Fast and Furious 2 again. Last edited by HEAV07; 11-11-2004 at 07:40 PM.. |

It's a miracle the cavalier made it off the lot.
I can imagine people in line to see the shootout between a Protoge and a Cavaleir. Call me when you get a 69SS Nova with a 482L2 that twists the frame. Mock has seen muscle cars. My brother went insane with them. We had a 72 400 SJ Grand Prix, A 69SS Nova, A 65 SS Impala 396,(both with Hurst) I had gentle cars with rocket 350's. Olsmobile Rocket Cutlass. That was considered tame. Last edited by watermock; 11-11-2004 at 07:48 PM.. |

You have nothing to worry about. I grew up with death machines. We had crazy cars. My buddy had a Ford Fairlaine XL that was insane. It was Pink and bad ass. Everyone had a bad ass car. Fairlane 500's, Camaros, Chevelles, GTO's.
Your worrrying about a freaking jap car? How amusing. |

I had a silver lemans with a 400 short block that was a damn monster. After I sideswiped it....long story...hehe....it had a nice history on the short track. God that car was fast. It was unruled. I don't know what they put in it. It was just unreal fast. Pontiac 400's were pretty mean. I don't know what happened with mine, but it was some freak. That car was fast.

Are you keeping the factory system, or are you going to put in a new radio/cd?
You may want to PM Dogpound with this question. He's worked with this stuff more than I have. |

Ride factory, just place woofers and an amp in there and you'll do fine, unless there is a current problem with the speakers and need replaced.
