Default Nuggets...

have their first preseason game tonight. I am so excited for their season to start. Anybody have Altitude network? Hopefully they get a deal done with Comcast soon!

The moves the Nuggets made in the offseason seem to mirror many of the moves that the Broncos made. They both made huge moves in the offseason. By the way, I think bringing in Kenyon Martin is one of the best moves the team has ever made, besides getting rid of Dan Issel and drafting 'Melo. They really focused on defensive players bringing in Greg Buckner at the two spot, and they got veteran leadership with Byron Russell.

The only move I am really not comfortable with is getting rid of Ryan Bowen. He was willing to come back and he busted his ass on every single play. It's too bad that the Nuggets did not want him back.

Let's go Nuggets!

I have Dish Network, so I'm one of the lucky few in the Denver area who gets to watch this game tonight.

Right on! The first Nugget thread of the season. I suspect there are going to be quiet a few of these this season! With the addition of K-mart the Nuggets are the real deal.

GO NUGGETS!

On the bright side it ain't baseball, either.

Those able to watch please give your thoughts and impressions on tonight's game.

We Comcast subscribers are still in the dark.

Yeah, this whole Altitude thing not being on Comcast sucks. What sucks even worse is that I didn't end up going to the blue and white scrimmage either.

K-Mart and Melo.... oh yes.

From what I've caught on the radio K-Mart, Nene & White are all sitting this one out.

'Melo's got 18 and the Nuggets are up 11 at the half.

Here's the final score: Denver-97, Milwaukee-91. It's great to here that Carmelo played so well, same with Earl. Too bad K-Mart didn't get any action.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=241014007

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Carmelo Anthony had 19 points before sitting out most of the second half, and Earl Boykins added 18 points and six assists to help the Denver Nuggets win their preseason opener 97-91 over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night.

Keith Van Horn and Michael Redd had 17 points each, and Desmond Mason added 16 for Milwaukee.

Anthony started off with a with a long jumper, then used five or six fakes on Van Horn to set up a baseline jumper. He kept going from there -- a square-up jumper, a no-look pass to Marcus Camby for a dunk, then a dunk of his own after a no-look pass from Boykins.

Anthony also pinned Maurice Williams' shot against the backboard and finished off the first half with a 3-point play, a huge grin spreading across his face as the ball fell through the basket. He finished the half with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting, adding five rebounds and two assists to give the Nuggets a 54-43 lead.

Not bad for a player who earlier this week said he was still trying to get in shape.

Anthony was superb, but the fans will have to wait the debut of Denver's other star, Kenyon Martin. The All-Star power forward stubbed a toe in his hotel room Thursday morning and watched in street clothes.

Redd kept the Bucks in it in the first half, working his way through Denver's defense for some tough baskets at the rim. Van Horn did most of his work in the third quarter, scoring 11 points to help Milwaukee cut an 11-point deficit to 74-71 with 32 seconds left in the period.

Stubbed a toe? Griese trips over his dog. Jake falls off the couch.

Is there some type of right of passage curse in the Mile Hi City?

But then again, it could all sort of even out in the near future. I could be wrong, but I believe that Ilgauskas' contract is up after this season. With no big deal going to Boozer and Z off the books, the Cavs could set themselves up as free agent players in the offseason.

If I'm the Cavs I pretty much concede next season (the arena should still be full as the honeymoon with Lebron isn't over yet), clear out as many bad contracts as possible for cap space in the upcoming offseason and get a high draft pick on top of it all.

Take whatever you need with a possible top 5 pick and use Lebron and the national TV exposure as a recruiter to bring in the UFA's.

I like the Cavs moves this offseason minus the Boozer debacle, a lot finger pointing towards each side on who screwed who, but sign him to the one year deal then work out a long-term one, Cavs!

We have players on the team that can shoot now, with rookie Luke Jackson and Drew Gooden and Eric Snow, all get to be role players around the King, but good shooters nonetheless which we didnt have last year.

McInnis with us a whole season will help, he was acquired in the Miles deal from Portland last year, and we looked a lot better with a true PG running our offense, none of this LeBron at 6"7 250 running the point anymore.

We'll see, we're still quite a ways from thinking playoffs/deep into playoffs, a lot farther than Denver is. That's one hell of a starting line-up you guys got, Melo, Nene, K-Mart, Camby, and Miller, with the big diesel in Maimi now, Denver has as good a shot as any team to come out of the west. Dallas still can't play D, Sacramento is not the team they once were plus they choke, Minnesota still doesn't have the parts around KG to be it, San Antonio still looks complete though.

I hated playing basketball when I was younger and didnt play it in high school cause I suck at it, but I still follow it and like watching the NBA, especially when the Cavs are finally worth going down to the Gund and watching(I still would see a few games every year even when they sucked and didnt have LBJ, but it wasnt anything to get too excited about.)

If they've got the cap space and want a real dead-eye shooter, Ray Allen (who I'd kill to see in the Nuggets starting lineup at the 2 spot) will be available this summer.

There may not be a better pure shooter not named Peja in the NBA.

If the nugs get Ray Allen with their current lineup they might as well give them the trophy.

Carmelo
Camby
K Martin
A Miller
R Allen

Nice!

Too bad it's not possible. You have to have cap room to sign someone, we won't for a while.

Looks like 'Melo didn't let the weed charge bother him too much. He scored 23 points in 23 minutes on 5-7 shooting from the field and 12-16 shooting from the foul line. K-Mart put up 15 points and 7 boards.

The stat line of the night that I really like belongs to Andre Miller. 12 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals. Nice.

Nuggets beat the Clippers 100-88.
