Friend loses dad....words hard to come by. - The Orange Mane

Sunday; Well it was noon central time and I was looking for some friends to go down to the sports bar to watch the Broncos whip the Raiders. I call up a friend that works in my office with me to see if he went home to GA or stayed here. He answers and said he is in town but heading home for emergency leave. I ask what’s wrong, he tells me his father was killed in a car wreck Saturday. He just joined the military and is 19 yrs old. I lost my father to cancer when I was 18 so I know somewhat how he feels. I tell him im sorry and if he needs anything to call.

Monday; Other friend I work with tells me what happened. His father was asleep in the passenger side of the car, his brother was driving and his other brother was in back. A wreck happened ahead of them he moved around it and another car slammed into the passenger side. Here is what multiplies the sad part. They were on the way home form their sister’s funeral. He lost his Aunt and Dad in one week. His 1 uncle had broken bones maybe back and his other he didn't know if he was alive.

I took a collection at work and we are ordering the family flowers today. This just makes you step back and realize how fast life can change and how meaningless things really are compared to family/friends. My family and friends are all trying to find a place to live/move around since Ivan destroyed most everything we have. That has been the #1 priority for a month now, then something like this happens. I don't know what to say to him, I still can't talk about my father passing away and that was almost 10 yrs ago.

Stay strong Want2babronco. Live often throws adversity at us so fast that we can't even absorb it all.

One thing a good friend of mine always tells me and it is very simple. Give time time.
