This is hardly a surprise. Kerry's Vietnam record has been debated since he made it a central part of his campaign. The only surprise is there doesn't seem to be people clamoring for "equal time" on this matter...not yet, at least...

What a waste of time and money.

I can't even relate to this attack on Kerry. My understanding of the Vietnam war is that we never should have been there in the first place. So why am I supposed to fault a soldier who DID go there, and came home to protest our involvement?

This whole Vietnam attack on Kerry just doesn't move me.

As the article states the equal time would be given to Bush and Nader since this documentary shows kerry.

So, a group that owns 62 television stations across the country is forcing them to show an anti-Kerry documentary a week before the election.

Anyone want to explain that whole "liberal media" thing to me again?

Two Big “October Surprises” For Bush

On the very day before Donald Rumsfeld paid a surprise visit wearing Paul Bremer's trendy Timberland bootees because they have the same size feet (and brain) to Baghdad to stand before a group of ramrod-stiff soldiers —ordered in advance not to ask “What the **** are we (and you) doing here?”—and conned them into
believing they could probably be going home before the Iraqi election but probably won't until well after the Iraqi election which will be postponed anyway, if then, a group of Marines spilled a can of beans to the Washington Post.

Irrespective of the disturbing fact they actually want to cause more death, destruction, havoc and misery than they already have—because that’s what Marines are trained blindly, unquestioningly and obediently to do—they are openly
second-guessing their superiors. (Or in the case of their Commander in Chief, one of their many obvious superior inferiors.)

This gives one of the major networks (probably CBS) the "cover" to show Farenheit.

No equal time will NOT be given to Kerry or Nadir. Sinclair's view is that Kerry may appear to refute. Equal time would be requiring Sinclair to run equal time of F-911 or something on BushII's vietnam service and exit from the guard.

What's objectionable is that Sinclair is skirting CFR to provide BushII with free negative advertising, which legally Kerry cannot match. Soros or some RW nut can buy all the time they want, but this is a MEDIA group offering one candidate an advantage.

Isn't the FCC run by Colin Powell's brother. It does violate the law, but like everything else in the Bush campaign, don't expect that to be an impediment.

I'm not sure it strictly violates the law. It's a new low though.

I read somewhere, maybe in the times link, that one view of Sinclair was that actually they were giving the time to Kerry, so perhaps they should also allow BushII extra time for free. Gotta love that.

What law? The McCain-Feingold 1st-amendment-busting "campaign finance reform" load-o-crap? Note that your buddy Soros pushed very hard for that law.

I wonder when LABF's ire at the rich manipulating the political system is going to extend to Soro's underhanded tactics.

Soros and Sinclair.

Now there's an equation only a hardcore bush supporter like W*GS could make.

BTW, Sinclair's CEO (what's his name?) has a criminal record. He was busted for some sort of perverted public sex acts with a hooker in Baltimore.

Nothing like GOP "family values," eh?

Ah, here we are:

Sinclair Broadcasting's David Smith Busted In Prostitution Sting

David Deniston Smith, president and chief executive officer of Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc., was charged with committing an unnatural and perverted sex act in a company-owned Mercedes. He was arrested in an undercover sting a Read and St. Paul streets, a downtown corner frequented by prostitutes.

Police said Mary DiPaulo, 31, ran across the street to a 1992 Mercedes, registered to Sinclair, and got in on the passenger side. Police followed the car onto the Jones Falls Expressway, where they said they witnessed the two engage in oral sex while Smith drove north.

There are many reference sub-links in these collected sources, see original link: http://atrios.blogspot.com/2004_04_2...35351404593578

How did he keep his eyes on the road. Her ass must have been in his line of sight.

Another credible report by LABF.

I'm surprised you don't already know the answer.

All republicans have a direct line to Jesus.

The Lord intervened just before Smith wrapped the car around a tree.

He was simply being rewarded for his examplary adherence to GOP "family values."

if they own the stations, then doesn't that mean the stations belong to them, and that these same stations would obligated to do as they are instructed to do?

And like all you libs say when something nauseating and disgusting is being shown on TV or being heard on the radio....change the channel...nobody is forcing you to watch it are they?

BTW, John Kerry was invited to appear on this program, and give his side of the story...he declined. Did General Westmoreland get that same opportunity when Dan Rather ran his staged "documentary" on GI's claiming to have committed atrocities in the Vietnam War?
