Davis fills my flex position RB/WR, I have T. Hollings his back up, but I can't find anything conclusive stating he's out.

I think if it were a playoff game Davis would play. Texans are trying to keep him healthy. I own Davis and I just picked up Tony Hollings, and I am starting Hollings.
Hopefully Jonathen Wells doesn't goble up many carries. |

I'm checking that Old Dude, but to a fellow Jamal Lewis owner. Did you hear that its only a two week suspension?
I checked but it isn't stating yet. Still listed as questionable. I'm checking the Houston Chronicle. Nothing there but according to KFFL.com he still can't cut although he can run straight. They also said even if he starts he won't produce much. "The Houston Chronicle reports with Houston Texans RB Domanick Davis (ankle) still experiencing discomfort in his ankle, the team could go with a running back by committee for the Sunday, Oct. 10, game against the Minnesota Vikings by using RBs Jonathan Wells, Tony Hollings and Davis. " "The Houston Chronicle reports Houston Texans RB Domanick Davis (ankle) increased his workload Thursday, Oct. 7, but said his ankle is "coming a lot slower" than he expected. Davis experiences the most discomfort on lateral movements. Davis said he would do whatever the team needs, even if that means not starting the game and only being used in certain situations to prevent further injury." From: http://www.houstontexans.com/
Backs to action By J. Michael Moore HoustonTexans.com Texans running back Domanick Davis returned to practice Wednesday afternoon for his first full-speed workout in more than a week. He sprained an ankle Sept. 26 against Kansas City and was inactive in Sunday’s game against the Raiders. When the season started it was thought the Texans would be struggling if Davis, last season’s 1,000-yard rusher, missed any significant playing time. Now, his return to the field is more like an added bonus to a group of backs that put up the second-highest rushing total in team history in a 30-17 win over the Raiders. ... “If we have all three backs healthy it gives the defense something to worry about,” Hollings said. “There are a lot of things we can do with all three of us that can go out and make this offense effective. The running back trio boasts very different talents. At 252 pounds Wells is the unquestioned bruiser of the bunch. Hollings has explosive speed while Davis’ history as a return man at LSU speaks to his elusiveness. Texans head coach Dom Capers said carries will be split between them. Keeping all three healthy will require such an even distribution. “You’d like to split it up because this is a very difficult league, it’s a very physical league and you have to be in a situation where you spread the load around,” Palmer said. “I think there were only nine backs last year that averaged 20 carries or more. That’s a major task.” Davis is still listed as the starter, but said he doesn’t care how he gets into Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. Wells said Wednesday determining a starter hasn’t even been brought up as an issue. .... - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - And, from sportsline: News: According to the Houston Chronicle, now that Domanick Davis (ankle) is close to returning to action, coach Dom Capers is trying to figure out how he will use all his running backs. Could Davis, Jonathan Wells and Tony Hollings (knee) be used in a running back-by-committee approach? "Whatever the team needs me to do ... just a little bit, a lot or whatever," Davis said. "If that's the situation (that I don't start), I'm cool with it. No problem. I feel a lot better than last week, it's close to where I want it to be." Analysis: Sounds like Davis will play in Week 5 against Minnesota but he might be splitting some carries. Last edited by Old Dude; 10-08-2004 at 12:29 PM.. |

RBBC. That's gotta suck for you D Davis owners. He might become a full time starter soon, but not this week.
Is the game on grass or turf? |

1. Who is more desperate? Dominick Davis cost the Texans a game or two with fumble problems before he went out with the injury. He was already under pressure to perform better. Then in comes Wells, who cracks the 100-yard mark against a fairly tough Raider run defense. Not to mention the fact that Hollings is alos gunning for a starter position. No matter what these guys say, they all want to be top dog, and Davis has the most to lose. Tatum Bell, OTOH, knows he's going to get his chances sooner or later, and he's still just a rookie. Less pressure to perform right now, but maybe also less motivation. However ... 2. Latest word is that Griffin was unable to practice again yesterday. If he's out of the mix, then Denver would probably go with Bell as the starter, with Droughns or Hearst taking over the role in single back sets or short yardage plays. That could mean more opportunities for Bell. I think the decisive factor for me would be the opponent. While I can see a possibility of us losing this game, I just can't see Carolina blowing out Denver's defense. As such, I don't think we'll have to abandon the run at any particular point. But I can see some scenarios where the Vikings jump way up on the Texans. Culpepper, Moss & Co. can score in a real hurry when things go their way. If they do that, Carr will have to take to the air, and the RBs are less of a factor. I'd say a slight edge to Bell, depending on whether Griffin practices today. |

how about now though?, I'm still torn. Bell or Davis, both will have 1-3 running backs sharing carries after all. I guess its a crap shoot. my plan is Bell. the broncos have a habit of making supposedly great running defenses fits.'we just ran right at them"... and the Vikings are likely to outscore the texans. but damn you never know these days. ![]() |
