I haven't posted in a while - just wanted to chime in as we approach the most unbelievable baseball weekend in recent memory.
Here's to the Giants SWEEEEEEEEEEPING LA, the Rockies taking out the Astros, and the Cubbies continued collapse (yeah - who's laughing now Dusty!). Humm Baby - Go Giants! |

Stanford did choke. So much that their coach exited the building.....forever. You know when you lose your head coach to the Golden State Warriors you've hit an all-time low.
But how 'bout them Cardinal football? Came pretty close to shocking the world last week v USC. Just ran out of gas - too undermanned. But I'm happy to report that all is good and well down on the farm. Stanford athletics, in aggregate, remain the elite of the elite. Now I just need a big 3 games from Barry, Woody, Schmidtty, Jt, Ray Ray, et al. and it'll be another october of baseball by the bay. Humm Baby - Go Giants! |

the Stros clearly have the odds in their favor. The friggin Rockies bent over for the Dodgers - I don't see why they won't do the same for the 'Stros.
But sometimes when it's too easy, it's difficult. I'm not sure too many people envisioned the Cubbies losing 5 out of 7 to the Mets and Reds last week. The Stros have played with nothing to lose for the last 2 months. Played loose. Now they're the favorite. Time to pucker up. |

Woohoo! Now the Giants need help, the Cubs are officially out of it and the Astros are in the driver's seat!
I could not be more happy. Smelvin, show up more often when one of my teams needs some luck! |

It's funny that everytime that "Beat LA" chant is used, an LA team is about to win something. Keep on saying it.

I'll be rooting for Los Angeles (I liked watching Choi this season for Florida and hope he gets a ring on the bench ) in the playoffs. If they don't do it then I hope Larry Walker wins it with the Cards. |

god that was terrible, thankfully the dodgers do not have a playoff caliber pitching staff so they will be done in round 1.

Hey, we'll take getting through the back door to the playoffs. We're the hottest team going in.
Next up...the Braves who we have not one, not two, but three playoff scores to settle ('97,'99,'01). Will send up Clemens and Oswalt (wish we could throw Pettitte and Miller at them too) and try to get to the Series. BTW, the Jimy Williams streak is still alive. He's been canned three times during the season and the team that fired him reached the post-season all three times (Toronto, Boston and Houston). If you want to make the playoffs, hire then fire Jimy Williams - simple as that. |

Dodger fans have good reason to act like kids in a candy store right now. First time appearing in the playoffs in like 15 years.
Enjoy, it's a fun ride. Dodgers had a great year. Gotta hand it to Tracy. With that SP it's a miracle they were able to withstand running out Limatime, Ishii, Nomo, etc. The late game comebacks were amazing. I personally don't think they'll have a long stay in the post-season, but crazier things have happened. All of the NL teams appear to have serious SP holes, so it's anyone's ball game. Beltre did have a rediculously awesome year - but to say anyone other than Barry deserves MVP is retarded. If you take away ALL of Barry's hits on the season, he still finishes in the top 10 in OB%. Barry had more HR's than K's. That is a statistical impossibility. Well, the run of the Giants finishing higher in the standings than the Dodgers ends at 8 consecutive years. Next year a new streak begins. Enjoy your 3 playoff games, Dodger fan. Well deserved. F the FRENCH Rockies. |
