Default Skiing in late Nov.

Im thinking of combining my yearly ski trip with the oakland game. Normally I go to Jackson hole in January to ski and I never have skied in Colorado. So if there are any skiers out there tell me how is Aspen in late Nov. ? worth taking the week off to hit the slopes before the raider game ?

Shake,

Why Aspen? Unless your here to rub elbows with the Snobs, hit the slopes at Winterpark/ Mary Jane or the Dillon area slopes (Breck, Keystone or the local spot-A-Basin). Just a thought from a Local!

If your comin' for the Annual Raider Hater Bash, you know your welcome at our "table".

MaryJane and A-basin.......two of the best places in Colorado to Ski and tailgate. That is no joke. You can park your rig right next to the lifts and drop a bbq right there! The bigger parties usually occur during spring skiing but I agree with NUT why even bother with Aspen. To be honest I haven't even been there since I was a kid but if you are looking to get scalped on hotels/dinner/ and lift tickets that is your place.

Personally I'd recommend Copper or Winterpark/Mary Jane. Depending on how much time you have this might be your best bet for trying to thit the slopes the day before the game. If you leave at the same time as everyone else for the slopes on a Saturday you can expect to hit a traffic jam. If you venture off to a far off resort like Vail or Beaver Creek or Aspen you will more than likely regret it. Unless of course you plan on leaving Denver at 5:00am and returning at 9:00pm. I'm not kidding.

Now if you are planning on skiing on Friday you will be fine wherever you go.

You can usually save money by getting your ski tickets at King Soopers to A-basin, Keystone, Breck, Winter Park/Mary Jane, Copper.

Hope that helps. Depending on what day you are planning on skiing I might be heading up also.

Hey Nut you a skier?

If so we outta do up a Broncos Style tailgate at the slopes one of these days.

I just dropped OF1 off for the paint job/buffing/oil change etc. Once she gets an all clear from the bus pros I'd like to get her up the hill a few times for some skiing/tailgating.

Well the reason I picked aspen is because I have a free place to stay and possiably some free lift tickets. I would love to ski some of those other places but it look like we would be in aspen all week Tues--friday and then come to Denver on Sat, go to the game on sunday fly out monday. If I come I will defantly be up for some serious tailgating on sunday. hopefully the plan works out. Thanks again for the info.....are the ski conditions decent that time of year ?

If I remember my Aspen days (heavy party time) the snow in November is hit or miss but that was in the early 80's maybe they make the snow for Thanksgiving a big ski holiday (I think).

Shake, sound like a great time to be had, nothing like hitting the slopes and then attending the faid game. We'll be in the same spot as we were the last time you joined us.
Meck, I used to hit the slopes quite a bit, but "hung up my gear" after breaking my back at A-basin. Did the "cornice run" on the west side and busted my a$$ when I did the leap over the side! I didn't have any problems the first two runs. Not a good day!

Broken back......ouch. Well nothing is set in stone, but I hope it will all work out for me. Ofcourse the tailgate and football game would be the highlight of the trip.
