Default Could Hurricane Break Up FSU-Miami for 2nd time?

If Hurricane Ivan makes a beeline for Florida (let's hope not!), it could impact the rescheduled Miami-FSU game which had been moved from Monday Night to Friday night because of Hurricane Frances. Coach Bowden probably isn't focused on the game anyway with the death of his grandson this week along with his former son-in-law, not to mention all the funeral arrangements and such.

Forecasters say Ivan could make landfall this weekend but they don't yet know where. Most computer models have it moving northwest into Cuba and could, from there, bounce a number of directions, many of them skirting either the eastern side or the western side of Florida.

Also keeping an eye out for Ivan is the NFL which may need contingency plans if Ivan disrupts the season opener between the Titans and the Dolphins set to be played in Miami on Sunday. The league is looking at either alternate dates or alternate sites but this is something of a touchy subject after several Dolphins refused to fly to New Orleans for last week's exhibition game while Frances was at South Florida's doorstep.

This could be a v-e-r-y interesting weekend.

Unfortunately, the weather is causing havoc in more ways than one with the start of college and pro football seasons. I can't see them postponing it again. However, if Ivan does become terrible, then it's a real possibility.

If the game is postponed, it will either be dropped from their schedules or moved to championship week at the end of the regular season.

CW would be fitting considering FSU-Miami has ACC winner written all over it, let them duke it out while the other conferences are as well.

IMO, that's where the game belongs anyway. Who wants Michigan-Ohio State or Florida-Georgia at the start of the season? A matchup like this deserves to be near the back of the schedule.

Yeah but for us football junkies foaming at the mouth all off season the Miami - FSU would have been awesome to open the season with!

Not to mention knocking one of them out of the race rather early wouldn't have been that bad would it have?

I'd like that too, but a later game would probably hurt the loser more in terms of the polls.
