Default A celebration of a life well lived..... RIP

Grandpa Pinion passed away peacefully a few days ago. His health had been real poor for the last few years and the family knew time was drawing near.

He was an avid skier who loved to conquer the slopes into his mid 70’s until the doctors finally convinced him to hang his ski’s up.

I had a lot of respect for him. I admired him very much. What a grand person he was and a great american. A very intelligent person, great family man and always had a way of making everyone feel welcome. He was also a selfless civil servant for his entire career who had had a very unique view witnessing and participating in our county’s government during an important time in our nations history.

He was an extremely unassuming person. To meet him you’d think he had been nothing more than a lifelong ski instructor or something….. not a retired Chief Council to the U.S. senate. He had a unique view of American Politics being the Legislative Counsel of the United States Senate until his retirement in 1969. He had rebuffed talks of Supreme Court nominations as he enjoyed his retirement years (and finally getting to ski when and where he liked). I know that one of the things he was most proud of was his part in actually writing Civil Rights legislation.

Here’s to you Grandpa Pinion….. A life well lived. You are loved by your family and friends and always respected by your peers. I know you’ll be cheering Portis and your beloved Redskins on from Heaven.

~ RIP Grandpa Pinion ~

Yoda. I'm sorry to hear about your Grandfather. He sounds like and accomplished individual whom many will miss. Although his physical body has passed on....it is his spirit that will live on within you!

RIP Mr. Pinion.
