One of the top investigators on the Iran/Contra, Arms for Hostages deal. Uncovered and grilled Ollie North.

Led the investigation that toppled BCCI, sending the Saudis running for cover. Maybe that's why they funnel so much dough to the Bush familia? The last thing they want to see in the WH is Kerry. Hell, he's not even an oilman!

Wow, quite a legacy. Has he done anything constructive or just offered opinions of other's deeds? Any forward thinking problem solving or just throw more money at it?

No wonder he tried to run on the Hero thing.

He married into ketchup. Ketchup. That's right, put down your shovel Johnny boy, you've found gold.

Red Gold, Ketchup that is. Next thing you know ol' John's a billionaire. His kin folk said, "John, move away from there" Said the Capitol is the place you wanna be, so he loaded up his wife and they moved to DC. Washington that is.

If you can dismiss the toppling of BCCI so offhandedly, perhaps you don't realize precisely what that bank entailed.

Whatever it entailed, it certainly was not 20 years of work.

Perhaps it wasn't "20 years of work", but it most assuredly was "something constructive" and not "just offering opinions of others' deeds"...

For the answers to questions on his accomplishments in the last 20 years, all that information should be available on the Net. It might take a bit of effort to do the research, but the information could be found, of that I am certain. I suspect, however, that the question was rhetorical and Shakenbake probably wasn't all that interested in the answers.

Talk about your understatements!

If it was "all that" it would be hanging prominently at FlushtheJohns4president.com . One click!

Have you visited Kerry's or Edwards' websites to see what information is there? (I'm guessing no... )

I took your advise Blue. here is what is posted about his 20 years of service.

John Kerry was elected Lieutenant Governor in 1982. Two years later, he was elected to the United States Senate and has won reelection three-times since. In the Senate, John Kerry fought to strengthen our economy, improve public education, make health care more affordable, and protect our environment. And during his 19 years on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he has distinguished himself as one of our nation's most respected voices on national security and international affairs.

Well that really clears things up. not very vauge at all.

That's not too surprising that it didn't go into much detail on the brief bio. The statement that he "fought to strengthen the economy, improve public education, make health care more affordable, and protect the environment" does cover a lot of the issues that are of concern to many Americans. And "one of our nation's most respected voices on national security and international affairs" is an asset as well.

Interesting thread...

"Tell us what Kerry has done so we can dismiss it offhand without much consideration."

I would venture to say that Kerry has done more in his past 20 years than BUsh had done in the 20 years before he assumed office.

I brought it up because I've heard from the talking heads on radio and T.V. that he has pretty much done nothing in the 20 years he has served in the senate. Something like the only Sponserd bill he has gotten passed was the money for the "Big Dig" in Boston. I will freely admit I don't support many of his views. However, I don't believe everything I hear on the radio or T.V. so I thought someone out there would be able to tell me some of the things he has done. Blue pointed me to his Web site which has a canned response. I dont dismiss the things he did to topple the BCCI, that sounds like soild work.

Also what a great post by you. Instead of answering the question, you ask "Well what did Bush do before he became president" This thread was about Kerry. I'll tell you what. Since you brought up what did Bush do I will start a thread just for you where you can talk all you want about what Bush did before he came president.

I think it was Napoleon who said, "The first casualty of war, is truth."

I think the first casualy of election season is context. Kerry is a junior senator in a state with an living institution as lead senator. He'd be lucky to ever get his name on a piece of legislation. His protest vote on the 87 billion defense bill was no different than McCain's on a similar piece of legislation. We all remember what happened with that one - one amendment tacked on to that bill was funding for breast cancer research. So Bush hammered McCain by saying he was against breast cancer research.

Context. Context.

We probably won't shine a light on Kerry's Senate record until the debates. Right now, we have a bunch of people who think it matters that Kerry may or may not have earned the medals. We have a bunch of people that think it matters that Bush may or may not have been AWOL. I can't wait for the debates so we can actually talk policy.
