Default OrangeMane's top 25 college challenge prediction thread - week 1

Ok, here it starts!

In week 1, we only have 1 game involving a team in the top 25. Sign-ups are still currently going on but you can make your prediction on this game anytime from now until Friday, day before the game.

All spreads will be based out of www.point-spread.com as well, just so there is no confusion as to where I'm getting the spreads from.

Week 1:
Saturday, August 28th
#1 USC vs. Virginia Tech 7:45 PM
spread:+17.5 for VT
NOT A HOME GAME FOR EITHER TEAM - However, the game will be played at Fedex field in Landover, MD.

We have 23 contestants currently, still can get more though, and letting the challenge begin!

VT looks to be in for a down year. I'm going to go with USC winning by more then the 17.5.

Default VT in this one

I'll take VT -17.5
USC is famous for coughing up a hairball early in the season.

Wow, thats a big spread. VT has lost alot and USC would have covered this spread last year. Unfortunately this is opening game and mistakes will be made. USC has firepower and a great defense. I look for VT to struggle to score in this game unless they capitalize on sloppy play. The added hook scares me a little bit but not enough to stay away from USC. So I'm taking USC giving 17.5. Score should be around 34-6.

I'll be out of town until next Thursday/Friday. Denfan, is it ok if I give my predictions next Friday night or do I need to try and get them in sooner? I'm leaving around 5 central tonight so I'll check in before then. Talk to you guys later. Good luck.

I don't see VT being able to put up many points against the Trojans "D". I'll take USC in a romp.

VT - The game is less than 3 hr drive from Blacksburg, VT travels well, special teams are always solid with a Beamer team, 17 is too many points.

I'll take the bait and the Hokies, if on nothing else than I hate the Juice and Los Angeles in general.

VT lose but less then 18 pts
VT is under rated yes they will lose but I actually would not be suprised if it is a close game. first games of year are funny like that.

17.5 is alot, but USC is alot better than VT. Ive been struggling with this all week. I will take V.T. barely (although i agree with sideburn that this game has a 34-6 kind of feel to it, V.T. will get a few scores either in garbage time or during the competitive phase due to Randall's excellent athleticism, so 17.5 is just a tad, a tad too high).

Virginia Tech is the pick although i wouldnt be surprised at all to see USC cover.
