Default So do ya?

In an effort to get to know the people here I figured Id ask 2 simple questions.

1. Do you smoke?
2. Do you drink?

Just my little way of getting to know people.

Oh and ya I smoke, and ya I drink, A LOT. I am after all a Packer Fan.

I started smoking over 20 years ago. I quit smoking on the 4th of July, 2004. Yep, it's been 6 weeks and 2 days (and still counting). I didn't go on the patch, no hypnosis, no other BS. I just flat out said, "I'm done with this". Smoked the last one in my pack and haven't looked back. Ok, I'm lying, I HAVE looked back, but I haven't bought another pack and I haven't bummed one from anyone else. The hardest time to NOT smoke, for me, is when I drink, which I rarely do anymore.

I'm going up to my parents lake place this weekend and I plan on tipping quite a few brew-ha-ha's back. Sitting in the sun, beer in one hand and fishing pole in the other. I don't even care if my line isnt in the water. I just need to get the hell outta dodge for a few days and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it.

Used to drink like a fish. Back nearly 15 years ago, I was a quart-a-day kinda guy. Still drank pretty heavy until the wife got pregnant with my first one and I decided that if she couldn't swill anymore, I should be respectful to that and I hardly drank anymore either. When the kids were still toddlers, I picked up a bad tequilla and other narcotic habit again for a couple of years. One day I finally quit the illegal stuff completely, deciding I didn't want my kids to grow up without a dad (or only seeing him on visitation day) and I cut waaaaaaaay back on the booze as well. now, a couple of times a year I toss back more than my fair share, but for the most part, I behave and only have the occasional cocktail or two now.

Wow.. that was more than you were asking, wasn't it? Sorry.

1) Just quit smoking
2) Only occasional/social drinking at most now.

A quart is just short of a litre (of booze). Used to down a bottle of booze a day, and that wasn't including the beer that was also consumed.

I don't drink and I don't smoke. My girlfriend does both of those. That's called a balanced relationship in my book.

I Drink CANADIAN beer and I smoke like a '77 Datsun. I want to quit though (the smoking that is) because my kids are getting older now and I dont want them to watch their daddy smoke... after all, thats how I learned. Canadian smokes are very bland/mild compared to Camels or Marlboros or Winstons, but theyre just as hard to kick.

Right on Lynch..........you and I have something in common........after smoking for 22 years I quit 7-4-03 and never looked back........I have put on 30lbs in the past year but I'm only now where I should be weight wise.

Funny thing is I like beer a hell of a lot better now than I did when I smoked, it just tastes better and not one single time have I ever wanted a cigarette while drinking a beer.......another oddity is since I dropped the habit there have only been a couple of times where I actually wanted one..........

Oh yeah... in answer to the questions...

I drink beer and occasionally wine. I smoke but have an appointment in a few weeks to get a prescription for Zyban to help me quit smoking after smoking just under a pack a day for the last 17 years.

Good for you. Good luck in quitting the cigs, it is the single biggest modifiable health risk factor(ahead of obesity, just about anything else).

Hopefully Zyban will help you. A lot of people have success with Nicorrete, which is pricy but may be a decent add-on if your still craving.

By the way I don't smoke, drink 1beer/day after dinner(guiness), and drink a few brews on FRi/SAt.

Wow, that's really odd/weird. We quit on the same day, a year apart!

I can honestly say, that the only time I'm really craving a smoke is in a bar (which I rarely go to). I have picked up another bad habit though, and that's doubling up on the sweets! Gotta stop this **** ASAP! Starting 9/1, I'm hitting the club daily again. Been a long summer of too much work, and not enough play and not enough gym time. Maybe if I get back working out like I should be, the sweets will go away (as they should!)

You have obviously never lived in Europe. All beer in North America sucks. The best thing Canadians can say about their beer is "our beer doesn't suck as much as American beer!"

But it still ain't sh**. And, yes, I've lived in Europe. Give me anything - ANYTHING - brewed in Germany or Holland or Belgium or Denmark over anything Canada has to offer.

Your beer sucks. Deal with it.

1) I don't smoke; never did... it just didn't appeal to me. As I was growing up, my dad smoked and I hated the smell of cigarettes. Thankfully he was able to quit before it did too much damage to his health.

2) Yeah, I'm a moderate drinker... usually a couple beers or a glass of wine. On rare occasions I've been known to be "in my cups" (tipsy), though.

I don't smoke. I grew up around it though and don't mind smoking at all as a result....I'm much more bothered by anti-smoking militants than smokers.

I drink and I'll take Canadian brew over most of that Euro sludge any day of the week.

1.) No, I don't smoke. All of my friends do, even my brother does, but for some reason I just never got into it.

2.) I try to not drink, and have stopped as of late, butit used to be a every weekend thing for me until recently. Sobriety is pretty cool, it's just that I was drunk most of the time and never realized it.
