Default Swift Boat Truth

August 13, 2004
Swift Boat Veterans for Truth Force a Change in Kerry’s Timeline
It was only a matter of time until John Kerry had to come clean on his “Christmas in Cambodia” lie. Instead of spending the Christmas season in Cambodia as he has repeated several times it appears now that Kerry has dispatched his “biographer” Douglas Brinkley to switch the dates. The story has now moved from December 25, 1968 to January or February 1969.

But really--what’s a month or two among friends? Douglas Brinkley, the newly appointed time-line fixer for the John Kerry campaign has finally came out of hiding. He’s quoted in Friday’s UK Telegraph with a new story to soon be seared--that is seared into Kerry’s mind.

"On Christmas Eve he was near Cambodia; he was around 50 miles from the Cambodian border. There's no indictment of Kerry to be made, but he was mistaken about Christmas in Cambodia, Brinkley told the London newspaper. “Kerry went into Cambodian waters three or four times in January and February 1969 on clandestine missions. He had a run dropping off US Navy Seals, Green Berets and CIA guys."

Christmas, January, February they are all interchangeable for the nuance of John Kerry and apparently now Douglas Brinkley. There is zero mention of any “black-ops covert operations into Cambodia” in his doting 500 plus page biography of the democrat’s presidential candidate.

The quotes from Brinkley continue from The Telegraph…

"He was a ferry master, a drop-off guy, but it was dangerous as hell. Kerry carries a hat he was given by one CIA operative. In a part of his journals which I didn't use he writes about discussions with CIA guys he was dropping off."

This is fascinating, now we are to believe that John Kerry’s seared memory is no longer valid, and David Brinkley left a thrilling story about covert operations with “Navy Seals, Green Berets and CIA guys” out of his book. (The hat had to be mentioned as the story is still on Kerry’s Website)

So for those of you following along, Kerry wrote in The Boston Herald in 1979...

“On more than one occasion, I, like Martin Sheen in "Apocalypse Now," took my patrol boat into Cambodia. In fact, I remember spending Christmas Day of 1968 five miles across the Cambodian border being shot at by our South Vietnamese Allies who were drunk and celebrating Christmas. The absurdity of almost being killed by our own allies in a country in which President Nixon claimed there were no American troops was very real. But nowhere in "Apocalypse Now" did I sense that kind of absurdity.”

And repeated it on the floor of the senate in 1986...

“Mr. President, I remember Christmas of 1968 sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia. I remember what it was like to be shot at by Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and have the President of the United States telling the American people that I was not there; the troops were not in Cambodia.”

The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth have now exposed John Kerry on his mistaken Cambodia timeline. Kerry wanted the story to go away, and the old media has done its best to help him by ignoring it, but it seems to get stronger each day. So now--Christmas 1968 in Cambodia has now been changed to Valentines Day(ish) 1969 doing black-ops missions according to Douglas Brinkley. It’s difficult to swallow anything that Kerry says about this now, as he’s been proven wrong on a “mistaken timeline” in which he built a career.

This will satisfy only those who believed Kerry before. Brinkley's quotes will do nothing but continue to give this story legs as this new revelation will be hammered by critics.

John Kerry is still not on the record, he would serve himself well to show some leadership and humility and come clean on his own.

The new version of Senator Kerry's Cambodia experience is also not true. Senator Kerry patrolled from An Thoi on the 94 boat and also from Cat Lo on the 44 boat. There was no way to enter Cambodia from the An Thoi patrol area. That patrol area started at the coastal fishing village of Ha Tien and ran parallel to the Cambodian border but there was no way into Cambodia. Any good map will show this to be true. From the Cat Lo patrol area around Sa Dec it would have been possible for a boat to enter Cambodia except there were concrete barriers, river assault group boats, and PBR's guarding the entrance. Anyone entering Cambodia at that location would have known with complete certainty what they were doing. It just never happened. Senator Kerry is not being truthful and it can be easily proven by interviewing his own selected band-of-brothers. The claim that there were so many rivers and canals and that no one knew exactly where they were at is ludicrus. We had detailed maps and transparent overlays which showed everything right down to movements in fishing stakes. I drove a Swift Boat for a year in 1969 and I still remember all the patrol areas. Also, a single swift boat never went anywhere alone. It would have been way too dangerous. A second "cover-boat" would have gone along. That means the crew of that boat would have also known they were going into Cambodia. Where are the crew members and officer of the "Cover Boat"? Again, it just didn't happen. Why has the old media let this slide? Senator Kerry will say anything if it suits his personal political agenda. His Cambodia lie is just like his attrocity lie when he came back. They served his political purpose when he said them, but neither is true. I'm not a member of SBVT which can be verified. I also will not vote for either Bush or Kerry because I'm anti-war. I don't think we should be in IRAQ. However, I am for the truth.

A few more notes:

Kerry has claimed for decades that he was in Cambodia at Christmas, 1968, on orders from President Nixon who denied troops were in Cambodia. But Nixon wasn't president until late January of 1969 which is why they are not changing the timeline.

Also, the Khmer Rouge did not form under Pol Pot until the 1970s so they could not have been the ones shooting at Kerry.

Although nobody has yet questioned this, I still have a hard time believing that the Vietnamese honored Christmas as a holiday, much less celebrated it by getting drunk and firing weapons.

And new information is beginning to emerge that one of Kerry's travelling "Band of Brothers" was wounded and sent home before Kerry arrived in Vietnam. The man spoke glowingly of Kerry's military leadership at the DNC Convention but no records exist that they were in theatre at the same time.

The whole story is unravelling but the "old" media doesn't care to discuss it, not like they did Bush's ANG dental records.

He's painting himself into Apocalypse now. It's so damn ludicrous.

Think about it.

It was a "Secret Mission into Cambodia" under Nixon in December 1972. Of course it was secret, and it would damage National Security to have anyone from the CIA, Special Forces or any of his Comrades to verify his story. I'ts all "Top Secret" right? Then why hasn't a single person come forward to support is December, err, January, err, Presidential Operative, err, you know.

Look you morons. Your in charge of a Swift Boat to drop off CIA/Special Forces operatives and you have no clue what month it is?

Even then, these guys had watches down to the second. Yeah it was chaotic, but give me a break.

What do you think was going on when Kerry reported back to command? Well Sir, it was well.....what month is it. You will not find anything about Kerry's service in any sort of declassified information. His lies are covered up because classified information is held for 30 years.

I demand declassification of his supposed "CIA" drop off. What is do ****ing funny is he wanted to blame Nixon, who actually went in and killed some Cong in Cambodia, making it a convenent lie.

Look at the logic with this panering a-hole. I don't have to back up my story, and it's Nixons fault. It' was Nixons CIA before he was President. I have to keep this story secret.

You dimwits. He wouldn't be prancing around with it if he was even there! A real Seal or Special Forces wouldn't prance around! But Kerry managed to crap in their pants the moment he could get in front of the Senate. What happened to his "Buddies" he left behind in the supposed "Cambodian Riverway".

It's so absurd it's pathetic.

This crap reads better than Oliver North or Michael Moore.
