Default Kerry's lies about Cambodia

from betsys blog

Hugh Hewitt, bless the man, has an interview with a man named Steve Gardner who ways he served on John Kerry's Swift boat. He doesn't sound like he thinks much of Kerry at all. Gardner totally refutes all possibility of the Cambodia story or the CIA story. Read the whole interview. Here he is on Cambodia.
HH: OK. When you were on the boat, did you ever go into Cambodian waters?

SG: Absolutely not. That was a physical impossibility to go inside Cambodian waters.

HH; Why?

SG: They had four or five, at all times, boats, plus they had it wired with wire, they had concrete pylons down so that thee only time they could get through it was at high tide, and that was just so the sampans and the people that trafficked back and forth could get through.

HH: Now you served with him on Christmas Eve 1968, correct?

SG: That is correct.

HH: What did you do on Christmas Eve 1968?

SG: Well, I damn sure wasn't in Cambodia, I'll tell you that.

I wonder how the Frenchurian Candidate will wiggle out of this one, or if he even will?

I voted for the 87 million before I voted against it.

It's funny how now that John Forbes Kerry's "misstatements" about his 4-1/2 months in Swift Boats are being brought to light that all his defenders can say is that "It was 30 years ago. It doesn't matter", as if Kerry never mentioned those 4-1/2 months ever in his campaign.

Since John Forbes Kerry's campaign thinks that his record in 4-1/2 months as a leader of men is more important than his 20 year record in the Senate, Kerry's Viet Nam service is indeed fair game. Too bad for him that his Cambodia lie has been repeated often enough to force him to either retract or ignore the lie.

If he retracts the lie, it shows him to be the same opportunist he was with the bogus "Winter Soldiers" in the early 70's.

If he ignores it and lets his minions spin it, he'll look afraid of taking the issue head on.

Lose-lose for Lieutenant Kerry.

On the plus side, maybe the John Forbes Kerry campaign will completely drop the "I served in Viet Nam" nonsense and actually focus on his record as a lawmaker as well as his plans for the future. Because in the end, the whole Viet Nam thing really has nothing to with Kerry's ability to lead the nation and the people are being shortchanged by it.

Well said.

All this yammering about Kerry service, which now seems more of a political opportunity than service, isn't nearly as relevant as his record in the Senate over the past 20 years where he's done virtually NOTHING.

I don't know why you keep posting this stuff. The people who are going to vote for Kerry are going to vote for him, and the ones who aren't, aren't. I doubt that anybody on this board (and very few in this country) is going to vote based on what happened 30 years ago.

Let's face the truth. If Hunter Thompson came out tomorrow and said, "Here's pictures of W snorting coke at one of my parties, and banging coke whores at the same time he got paid for ANG service in Texas." You'd still vote for him.

Make sure you post this message, specifically, to LABS. You wouldn't want to appear biased, would you?

On the other hand, if the news came out tomorrow and said "Here's photos of John Kerry kicking puppies, burning the flag and stealing a lunch from an old lady in a walker." You'd still vote for him.

No. I'd vote for some Green Party candidate - or not at all.

Somehow, in your simple mind, I'm somehow tied up with LABF. If you'd hone your reading comprehension a bit, you'd notice that I only occasionally agree with him - although I do like the cartoons he posts. But I suppose that kind of complex thinking would overamp your abilities. I guess Bush is the candidate for you.

Amazing... the republicans have managed to descredit a war hero based on heresay.. This man went to war, saved some lives, did some really great things and these a-holes have the audacity to rake him over the coals for it?

I guess it's better to have never gone after all.

Nice try ass wipe, but you can't spin this.

Until you say the exact same damn thing you did to Exile to LABF or anyone else who posts stuff about Kerry you are a hypocrite. That should be plain and simple even to a monkey such as yourself.

You apparently haven't honed your back peddling/flip flopping skills like a true democrate, but I'm sure that will come with practice. That's why Kerry is the candidate for you.

Shack, don't be hypocritical like them! Address the facts not the messenger!

Their hypocrisy is unbounded. What's that line from Tombstone?
