Note the immediate comparison to two other Democrats who just "happen" to be African Americans.

Obama blew everyone away tonight.....even the Clintons. It was a great move by the DNC for the future.....but one has to question what his effectiveness may mean for the present. If swing voters witnessed his greatness tonight and feel Kerry and/or Edwards pales in comparison...will it have a negative impact in Nov.??

Don't fool yourselves, the GOP noticed and wet their collective pants after witnessing that speech tonight........they now know they have a great foe on the horizon, one which they will be hard pressed to counter.

Even as a registered Libertarian, I wanna know more about this guy..I was deeply impressed by him.

God your a fool.

The guy at least made a coherent message and towed the line of moderaton, something the extortionists of Jackson and Sharpton have been more than happy to exploit.

Don't worry, they will keep Jesse off the floor.

Sharpton will bring in the comedy vote. You have no idea how this is being crafted.

There are little war rooms on both sides. Obama gave a Clintonesque speech, saying nothing while implying everything. It was a coup.

Mrs. Kerry came off like a bimbo.

Eventually they will have to release their platform, which would ordinarily make Kerry, Kennedy, and Howard Dean sick. But they will present it.

It's pretty amusing how they work towards "an alliance".

Alliance with what? The Oil for Terrorist program of the Germans French and Russians along with the Syrians?

Of course they will come in the fold. The sanctions were run by the corrupt UN.

You have no clue. Now that the tables are turned, they will express their desire to restore stability.

What have they done in the Sudan? I love the Indonesian take by Carter, which is being assaulted, or the Phillipines.

What has the UN or any UE country done about it since all their resources are virtually totally unimpaired?

NOTHING.

It's to make the EU the dominant currencey and you can't even see it.

Obama is getting rave reviews all over the internet tonight. Every message board I visit has a thread about him and how well he came off tonight. Let's see how he does in Congress after he wins in November.

Who are some up and coming young Republicans? Can they match Obama?

Well it's not hard to rally around Obama when your dealing with Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, both criminals.

I wouldn't mind Watts to say a few words at the Republican Convention, but I guess he's still a Tom.

Mock, you are more out of touch than I would have imagined if you don't think that there was a new political star born tonight...

Obama is going to be the new face of the Democratic party. Mark my words and remember that I told you so...

Some will never admit to any of these speakers being any good....they're at the DNC Convention for God's sake!

Obama will draw a lotta heat because he was sooo very good....they will deride, deride and deride again until they feel they've stunted the effectiveness of his speech....it's the only hope they have of slowing him down.

I hope they fail.......the speech was brillant.

I didn't say that.

But oration doesn't make policy. What did he exactly say but a bunch of hopefull promises?

It was a litany of what they wanted to hear. Tell me one thing of policy he talked about.

Democrats are great at it.

We need a strong economy, we need health care for the elderly, we have to have alliances in the world community, we need to fight terrorism. The wisdom of JFKerry with his wisdom will make sure that our economy, security, and welfare of our great citizens will be best served with our propped up candidate?

Go look at the platform. It's such a close clone of Bush for two liberals it's hillarious.

Kerry voted against the f-14. he voted against the f-15. He voted against the F-117. He voted against the Trident Subs. He voted against the B-1 and B-2. He voted that we shouldn't of given 87 billion to support our troops.

Of course, pay increases is the issue? Now that 50 men have been hijacked you don't hear much Halbitron do you. I wouldn't go there for anything.

I will go cap them in homeguard tho.

You're right. Oration doesn't make policy. But that isn't Barak's role tonight. His role was to carry the momentum from Clinton. Yesterday we saw the past. Today we saw the future... and over the next two days, the Democrats want to showcase what they hope will be the present.

So your telling me Oration is more important than Policy?

The Kerry move to Moderate is honestly embarrasing. They had Kennedy giving an immigration policy! Do you have any clue of the dishonesty of the Kennedy clan in the early 20th centrury? It's embarrasing and tragic. Ted looked sober, but his voice is shot from shouting and he was unable to make a point, even tho the Kerry campaign has made every speech.

Let me tell you something. Every speech other than Mr. Clinton's was staged.

Good grief! Kennedy made his fortune in bootlegging. Why do you think his family has had so many "disasters"?

I heard him.

Just like the rest of the convention, it was filled with "feel good" catch phrases which didn't even come close to a solution. Like I said, wait till you see the actual platform.

Civil Rights- Bush started noone goes alone. Funding was given, states took the money and didn't use it for education

Economy- High Growth but nervous in the stock market because of terrorist threats.

Inflation- Historic lows

War on terrorism- High security in Boston. So much that most of Boston simply left.

9/11 report- Analysis going on right now. I don't think we need yet another level of crap to go thru, I thought that was what the Dept of Homeland Security was about, but evidently, we need more. I think it's overkill, but whatever. I think we are going to be attacked again. Study under way while the Dems dance.

Iraq- Quiet about the fact the number 2 if not number 1 terrorist is there. Bombs killing children. let's pull out and let them take over.

What your missing is there isn't a single solution than the typical panacia of typical naive rhetoric despite reality. Give me some substance other than the fact Kerry got shot up 30 years ago.

You're a twit. These are also Democrats who have vied for the Oval office and failed miserably. While I disagree with Obama he displayed energetic vitality and a willingness to work to move forward rather than pointing the finger and crying the blues. He is a terrific public speaker and can maintain a broad appeal across the "20%" that the parties fight over. Put that race card down, you're too quick on the draw.

uh....I'm probably wrong on this but I thought he was born outside the US.

If so then he obviously can't run for President.

But yes he was a good speaker, but has stack said a good speach does not make a good leader.

I didn't say Bush was a good president.

I'm simply saying...pretty words doesn't make you a good leader, if there isn't something backing it up, it only gives you a false sense of confidence.

I don't know anything about this Obama guy, so I'm not hacking on him per say, but to say he'll be president just b/c he can give a good speech...well that's a little short sighted. You can train an actor to give a powerful speech, but that doesn't mean he is qualified to be president.

I think his father was an immigrant from Kenya, but his mother was a U.S. citizen, and he was actually born in Hawaii.

Anyway, here's an interesting aside. Unless I've got my wires crossed, Obama's original opponent was Jeri Ryan's (7 of 9')s ex-hubby, whose campaign imploded after the Paris sex club stuff came out of the divorce papers.

For more on Obama's background, here's a long but interesting article:

Now he goes to the Senate, where he can expect Bill Frist will use every trick in the book to keep him down. If he can weather that assault, he just might make it. Politics, 101.
