Default Senator Cleland: Bush 'flat out lied' on Iraq

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...1506&ncid=2043

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US Democrats stepped up attacks on George W. Bush's anti-terror policies when an official of White House candidate John Kerry's campaign said the president "flat-out lied" over the Iraq war.

Former senator Max Cleland made his remarks in a conference call to reporters with Democratic chairman Terry McAuliffe as part of a party offensive ahead of this week's release of a major report sure to fuel criticism of Bush's war on terror.

Cleland, a national co-chairman of Kerry's campaign, described the Bush administration's arguments that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and ties to al-Qaeda terrorists, as a "pack of lies."

The former lawmaker from the southern state of Georgia defended the vote that he, Kerry and others cast in the Senate to authorize military intervention in Iraq, saying the Congress was "flat-out lied to."

Asked whether they were lied to by the intelligence services or the White House, he said emphatically: "By the president, by the vice president and by the secretary of defense."

"This country is less safe and less secure because of George Bush's decision to go to war alone and alienate the Arab and Islamic world and generate more recruits for al-Qaeda," he said.

Cue the anticipated retort from the bush lemmings:

"Max Cleland hates America!"

No, that would be Wilson.

Ann Coulter is a editorialist.

She has so much fun it's beyond crazy.

She has so much fun she can't help but laugh, because noone has been able to touch her yet.

All she does is tell the truth in straight forward element.

Tell me one thing Ann Coulter has been caught lying about.

Just one.

Are you such a tool that you can't see the obvious political mudslinging going on?

Yeah this was something worth posting...not.

Wasn't it Ann Coulter who said Max Cleland was "on his way to get a beer" when he was injured in Vietnam?

Cleland is just bitter, what else would you expect? He holds no weight with people not on the left end.

Sorry, Blue. These guys couldn't give a damn about the truth. They only care about winning - whatever it takes. But I commend you for trying.

Yeah, it was Coulter who spread the Cleland smear - including the line that he picked up the grenade because he was drunk. The real story, as told by the Medic who actually witnessed the event, was that Cleland was climbing into a chopper when a "cherry" (a new guy in country) dropped a grenade that he had attached incorrectly to his gear, which exploded under Cleland.

I'm surprised that any American who respects the idea of patriotism would continue to stick up for these people (Coulter, Rove, etc.) - but they do.

You mean there are people that actually listen to Coulter?

I tuned out years ago when she and Couric had their little b****y session. I thought they were both crazy...

Hmmm... So people actually listen to Coulter. I might have to tune in and see what the hell for (other than her looks).

It's not just the looks TJ...it's the anticipation of watching her explode. It will happen one day. I thought today was the day when she was on Hannity and Colmes earlier...Unfortunately, she didn't explode, but I'm still crossing the fingers.

"They had two levels of evidence. Anything that would confirm WMD in Iraq - very little scrutiny. Anything that showed Iraq did not have WMDs had a much higher gate to pass because if it were true, all of US policy towards Iraq would have fallen asunder."

Yep. Mostly rural, mostly uneducated white trash who vote repuke (read: consistently vote against their own political/economic interests.)

You have to understand that the retards who buy into Ann Slander's lies and distortions view politics like a football game: it's all about "go team GOP" no matter how crooked the republican party becomes.

Quotes

"Considering that George Bush actively avoided combat duty and has pursued policies that have made the nation less secure, he is on very shaky ground when it comes to questioning the commitment that Vietnam vet John Kerry has to our national security. This is just more attack-dog politicking by an increasingly desperate, partisan White House."

--Max Cleland, gave an arm and both legs for his country, yet that punk-ass Saxby Chambliss called him "another Osama bin Laden" for not voting with black-hearted Republican bastards, and in "hang-a-n*gger" Georgia, that's a winning strategy

You know, the more I think about it, I have to admit the repukes were right about something:

Iraq isn't like Viet Nam.

Bush had an exit strategy for Viet Nam.

Watching Coulters head implode or explode, (who knows which device she has implanted) would be amusing.

I would still let her ride me from on top. I would be like screwing Mohammed Ali in reverse.

Interesting, but I didn't see "lying warmonger" in that quote.
