Default Collateral is bad ass.

Just got back from this flick. I'm not generally a big Tom Cruise guy, but he's friggin' awesome in this movie. Good stuff, worth your money.

I'm surprised, it looks awful to me. I think Michael Mann is overrated, I don't like Jamie Foxx and I have a hard time believing Tom Cruise as a badass.

I saw Collateral last night and thought it was pretty mediocre. The story had a good premise but it really fell off in the second half of the film. The ending was too conventional "Hollywood" for my taste, way too predictable. It’s still worth seeing in the theaters or on DVD.

Cruise was decent as a hit man; I saw nothing special from his performance. I thought Tom Hanks did better job in his "bad guy" role in the excellent Road to Perdition. Same with Denzel in Training Day. The best part of the movie was when Cruise says to a couple of criminals, "Yo, Homie", and the entire audience laughs at the unintentional comedy.

I thought Jaime Foxx did a good job with his role as an unconfident cabbie. Foxx never broke out like predicted after Any Given Sunday, this movie may help him get to the next level.

Downtown Los Angeles and its skyscrapers looked magnificent for the entire nighttime based movie.

The "Yo homie" part was indeed funny.

Although I think Foxx has broken out... I don't know if you've seen the previews, but there is a movie coming called "Ray" which is about the life of Ray Charles, and Foxx plays him... which is a pretty big role, I think. Or perhaps collateral and ray will really make him a star.. Either way.

Oh, and the one thing I really smirked at was, during the car chase, they drive by 3 huge signs promoting "Playmakers," which was obviously cancelled long ago.

I got to the theater during the last preview so I missed Foxx as Ray Charles. That should be a nice measuring stick for him; how does Foxx as Ray Charles compare to Denzel as Malcom X or Will Smith as Ali (which Foxx himself was in).

I too noticed the Playmakers mural , and I didn't even watch that show when it was airing on ESPN. I recognized the bald white guy from all those promos ESPN ran for the show.

Michael Mann, and pretty much everybody else involved in Ali, should be lined up and shot. Ironically, the one time I didn't hate Jamie Foxx in a movie was when he played Bundini Brown in that film. It was plum supporting role and he didn't blow it. Too bad that bit character was the best part of a historically inaccurate and laboriously paced movie.

I thought it was a great movie, but the ending sucked...Jamie whatshisface plays a great cab driver, and normally I dont like Tom Cruise, but he was good in this one.

i loved this movie. tom cruise really surprised me with his role, i thought it was one of his best i've seen, and i usually dislike the guy. he brought a lot of intensity to the film. but really liked the atmosphere of the film, the whole l.a. at night feel. really set the mood. the scene in the train car was neat too, with the lights flickering on and off. really cool flick. i never saw ali, but since i'm a huge huge fan of heat i knew i had to see this one.
funny on the playmakers thing, i noticed that too, and it was strange 'cos just this week i got around to renting the entire season of that show on dvd. cool show, a little over the top, but fun.

I saw the movie last week, I like it but it was not a "great" film. The story is kind of hard to swallow. Jaime Foxx did a great job as the cab driver. The producer was great with all those shots of L.A. at night, it was really good. I don't think they develop Vincent character enough for you to grasp the message at the end. Overall I think it was just ok.
