a 40-page statistical analysis of 2000-election voting in Florida, and whether or not anyone really got screwed. from the Journal of Legal Studies. per this report, the people getting screwed most often, are African-American-Republicans voting in districts with voting supervisors that are African-American-Democrats. statistically, their votes are more likely to get thrown out than anyones. if you want this guys take on the voter purge, these are the figures and facts from pages 29 and 30. it looks like the US Commission on Civil Rights, trying to invent a problem, lied with statistics by saying Africans were more likely to be accidentally purged than Hispanics or Whites. This is kinda true. 125 white people appealed the purge, 239 black people appealed the purge, 105 hispanics appealed the purge. using these numbers, instead of meaningful numbers, ignores the following. 125/1264 or 10% of white people complained about being purged, of the 1264 white people who were purged from the list. 239/4678 or 5% of black people complained about being purged, of the 4678 black folk purged from the list 105/1208 of 9% of hispanics complained about being purged, of the 1208 who were purged from the list. now, of these 7,000 or so people purged, we don't know how many were purged because they are in fact felons. Actually, because the media freaked out about this and made it a big issue, THOUSANDS of REAL FELONS got to vote in counties where officials threw OUT the purge, and let ANYBODY on the purge list vote. since 67% of FELONS vote DEMOCRAT, Gore probably received thousands of felon votes that counted, while over-estimating the purge to pretend he deserved even MORE votes. what we do know, of these 7,000 purged voters, less than 7% appealed. while the majority of those appealing were black, the majority who were purged were black. if you determine false-purges by number of appeals, whites and hispanics were TWICE as likely to get falsely purged than black folks. this is not an accurate way to do things, but it is the way the US Commission on Human Rights decided to abuse the numbers to scream bloody murder about a non-issue. of course, Moore has no qualms about quoting figures from sources that are grossly inaccurate, as long as he can back up his reference. also listed on the anti-9/11 list of deceits, is the fact that only by re-evaluating the ballots that were thrown out for double-votes or non-votes (the hanging chad issue all over again), and re-evaluating every ignored ballot, could Gore possible have won. none of his appeals or complaints asked for this kind of recount. every recount Gore called for, using any method he called for, would have resulted in Bush winning Florida, hence the reason Bush is president. here's the link again, if you want to see why Moore's a lying piece of crap. http://www.davekopel.com/Terror/Fift...enheit-911.htm after all this nonsense, I figured I'd share a statistical analysis of the FACTS in response to the rumors and sensationalism of TV talking heads and political nutbags like Moore. still think there were 8,000 Florida votes for Gore that got stolen by some vast right-wing conspiracy? |

Good find!
Hopefully that shuts them up, but somehow they will manage to spin the truth. Oh, and attack the message, not the messenger liberals! Don't want you to be hypocritical! |

LMAO @ the attempt to pawn off the 'findings' of some right-wing fronted legal group as a legit study.
Meanwhile, back in reality: Voting Irregularities in Florida During the 2000 Presidential Election Chapter 9 Findings and Recommendations http://www.usccr.gov/pubs/vote2000/report/ch9.htm The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights conducted an extensive public investigation of allegations of voting irregularities during the 2000 presidential election in Florida. The investigation, utilizing the Commission’s subpoena power, included three days of hearings, more than 30 hours of testimony, 100 witnesses, and a systematic review of more than 118,000 pages of pertinent documents. Perhaps the most dramatic undercount in Florida’s election was the uncast ballots of countless eligible voters who were turned away at the polls or wrongfully purged from voter registration rolls. While statistical data, reinforced by credible anecdotal evidence, point to widespread disenfranchisement and denial of voting rights, it is impossible to determine the extent of the disenfranchisement or to provide an adequate remedy to the persons whose voices were silenced in this historic election by a pattern and practice of injustice, ineptitude, and inefficiency. Despite the closeness of the election, it was widespread voter disenfranchisement, not the dead-heat contest, that was the extraordinary feature in the Florida election. The disenfranchisement was not isolated or episodic. And state officials failed to fulfill their duties in a manner that would prevent this disenfranchisement. |

Hopefully that shuts them up...
Haven't you realized by now that "they" are probably never going to "shut up" about the stolen election? I know most rightards wish that all those pesky facts confirming the illegitimacy of their Oil Emperor Resident Gigglekill would just conveniently vansih into thin air, but, trust me, it ain't gonna happen! You can't just take away thousands of people's right to vote and expect them to roll over and never bring it up again. |

How totally unaware.
I have told a District Attorney I would have his Head on a Pike, and I got his head on a pike. iI went to jail because they said I "couldnt access discovery". I was told I couldn't go into the state. I screwed this drug dealing DA so bad he's in Fed. I went to the FBI, it took a long time, but i got the bastard. Coke in his Lincoln. I had to circumvent the entire system till I got to Reno herself. BUSTED. Last edited by watermock; 07-20-2004 at 09:28 PM.. |

I was scared for my life.
I played wimp and cried when they incarcerated me for BEING IN THE COUNTY. Then I got him. I called the FBI. He had allready been absolved of a bust when he was holding in Las Vegas, and he wrote himself off as bing in an "investigation". Now what is is DA from Paducah Kentucky doing with a load of coke in his trunk? Man oh man did I get heat in that town. I was thrown in jail for being in the county. in the county. They had narcs trying to sell me coke in the next room when they arrested my girlfriend for child endagerment when she left her with the house, a restrainting order and 3000 in cash. Her daughter was 3 weeks from 18, and had 3000 dollars. So as soon as she leaves, the restraining order is lifted and a garage sale goes into full function. I call the police and tell them they are going to pay. It too awhile to get the Fed's involved, probaby 30 calls to Reno. She finally Busted him tho. They got him big time. It might of been DEA that got him. I called everwhere. I got that ****er good. He threatened me and scared me. I was looking at 1 to 5 in a county jail in Kentucky for defending someone. I bent. But I got him. I got him really good. |

First, I pleaded because i was there as a lawyer per se. I wan't thrown in jail, the DA created a warrant because I said I would have his head on a pike. BTW, his head went on a pike. They were so after me, they showed up at my hotel looking for any reason to arrest me. Mock has Balls. I went to the basement and demanded discovery. There were 9 cops around me, pushing me around. "This guy is drunk, lets throw him into the drunk tank" Only my threats saved me. I told them "You touch me your in more trouble than you allready are..." I left out the words Dumass Redneck your wife is back at home screwing a ****a.because it didn't seem appropriate. |

![]() We know about his reading comprehension issues. We've seen them a thousand times. As for the "blind" part--just think of that ZZ Top song "Arrested for Driving While Blind" and you've probably got something of an idea. ![]() |

Looks like it's gonna happen again in '04, with florida getting rid of their purge list under media pressure, and allowing countless felons to vote irregardless of state law.
Where's the evidence to support these claims? All the news stories I've seen suggest just the opposite, i.e., that Jeb and the FL repukes are evidently going to try to employ the same dirty tricks they used in 2000. |

that's because all the news stories you see are on bartcop. and they'd never admit they A) made a mistake, B) misrepresented the FACTS, or C) have no idea what the hell they're talking about. |
