I've been down on Elam for sometime, I'll give him a pass tonight. Its only preseason. If it was a regular season game I'd want him cut tomorrow.

It's only preseason. To me, This hardly matters for the SURE starters. Plummer, Lelie, Smith, Elam, Sauerbrun, Bailey, Lynch, etc..

The back ups and shakey starters are the ones who need to play hard.

WRONG. They need to establish rhythm in a game situation. Week 4 and PRACTICE is for the back ups and shaky starters.

Typically teams look to establish rhythm in game 3 when they play their starters longer as well as in camp. I don't think our 1st stringers are in bad shape myself, just our depth, which I was hoping would be a strong point, is looking SAD.

I'm not worried about Elam though, he gears up when it counts.

Elam gets a pass. We have a lot worst problems with Special Teams than the heart and soul of our red zone offense. (Note: the dripping sarcasm)

He's only the highest paid kicker in the league, he shouldn't be bashed for missing kicks.

Elam used to be money, what's up with him and I AM referring to regular season misses which seems to increase over the last couple years ?

I think he's starting to earn the detriment of a doubt. It's preaseason, and we won, so it's easy to forgive. But we play one of our toughest schedules that we've seen in years, and if we can count on our million dollar leg inside our own 40, it's going to be a miserable season.

Elam is a top ten kicker no matter how you rank them and his contract will seem quite reasonable by the time it runs out.

My only fear is that we're going to do something stupid like cut Ernster.

You guys are acting like he has never missed two field goals before. Hell, missed two in Super Bowl XXXIII. You guys are overreacting, he will be fine.

If he's lost his edge this team will be suffering all year. No joke! He was last year's red zone offense. Did the money mess up his motivation?

It seems like there is a lot of wierd karma going on. A hall of famer who can't catch. An up and comer whose up and down. A top draft RB who won't run. A defense who won't get turnovers. A kicker who can't kick.

Jake isn't throwing pick...yet. Anderson isn't coughing the ball up...yet. Our awesome defensive line hasn't really stopped anybody...yet.

This is going to an interesting season but right now the Broncos are on a ledge peering over. If they get it right it's hang gliding but if they don't it's another off season of angry posters throwing rocks into thin air.

I know, I know already ELAM is still one of the best. Here is the thing with being one of the best you expect that same high standard year after year, kinda like winning two superbowls you expect a higher standard.

After all unless someone is all over him or a bad snap then it is all on him, it is his ONLY job. Missing two field goals in one REGULAR season game is unacceptable for a guy with his talent. IMO.

Think about all the other teams in the league that have problems with kickers. Many teams go through a couple kickers a year. Elam has been steady for years. It would suck big time if he wasn't on the team and they were searching for a new kicker every few weeks. I'd say we are lucky to have Elam. Dude's not perfect, but he doesn't have us bashing our heads against the wall like fans of most other teams. Hell, a Jet fan put up their kicker for sale on Ebay. Didn't the Chargers blow their playoff game because of a couple bad kicks?

The starters don't need these meaningless preseason games. Every other level of football starts the season just fine without these meaningless games.

Can we just start a separate Elam section of Orangemane? Kind of like his own wings where his threads could be subdivided into 30 or 40 categories?
