Adopt-a-Bronco:

Default UltimateHoboW/Shotgun Camp Report 7-27-14

My observations from Practice 7-27-14:

Lineup:

QB's:
1st Team..............2nd............................. ....3rd.....................4th
Manning (Duh).....Osweiler...........................Dyser t....................Renner

RB's:
Ball.....................Hillman/Anderson..............Clay/Bibbs............Thompson

TE's:
J Thomas..............Greene........................ GRobinson...........Tamme(Lined up a lot at Hback/splitback)
I'll talk more about what I saw from the TE's

LT's:
Clady.....................Justice

LG's:
Franklin................Miller

C's
Man Ram...............Montgomery...............Paradis

RG's
Vasquez.................Schfield

RT's
Clark......................Painter

WR's
Caldwell...................Latimer................ ..Norwood
Sanders....................Burse.................. ..Hardin
Welker.....................Fowler................. ...Palmer
DT is still out to morn his Grandmother

Defense:
RDE's
Ware.......................Q Smith...................Hall Davis

RDT's
T Knighton................Austin.................... Fua

LDT's
S Williams.................Vickerson................ Unrein

LDE's
Wolfe.......................Jackson............... .....Anunike

WLB's
Trevathan.................Marshall................ ....Nelson

MLB's
Irving......................Barrow................ ..Johnson

SLB's
Miller.......................McCray............... ...Barrett

CB's
Talib........................Carter............... ......Young
Webster...................Bolden.................. ...Murphy
No Harris on the PUP
S's
Moore.......................Ihenacho.............. ..Mitchell
Ward.........................Q Carter...............Bruton

Please forgive the format here. 4-3 is our "base" defense even though we play "nickle" most of the time. During our "nickle" defense Roby kicked inside to play the slot receiver. Also during nickle Miller didn't kick down to DLine. Keep in mind that is the 4th day of practice and much of the installation hasn't been put in.

They also seem to be playing with the LB's during "Nickle" situations. Several times I saw Marshall and Barrow play along side Trevathan in the "Nickle" situations.

We don't have a Fullback. We have had a lot of 2TE sets. However, during several snaps TE's went into motions and took Fullback position in front of the Halfback.

More to come. Position breakdown and pictures.

Why does someone already have a Talib jersey?

Just because G Robinson lined up at a more traditional TE position. Tamme was split out more and in motion.

Offense:
QB's
Manning- What can I say that hasn't been said already. His arm does look stronger. His balls do wobble a bit through the air, but they always have. However, he gets his balls where he needs to get them. Its not about how they look. Its about effectiveness. Look at Cutler. Best looking balls through the air but he gets intercepted all the time. Cutler looks like he's throwing blindfolded, in a dark room, at a black cat that isn't there.

Osweiler- Had a bit of a rough day. But I attribute a little bit of that to this part of training camp. Its early, simple offense, simple defense and defense has always had and early leg up on offenses in the beginning. Had no interceptions. He does like to lock on to his receivers and takes an extra second to find his second and third read. He also like to lock on to G Robinson. Did make a TD throw to G Robinson at the back end line of the endzone.

Dysert- 3rd string QB. Osweiler better watch out. Don't get be wrong He is the 3rd string and with good reason. However, Dysert makes good throws every once in a while. During 7-7 Dysert made a back shoulder throw with the DB all over 87Hardin.

Renner- I read a lot of good stuff about this guy after the draft. Didn't really see it today. Maybe we'll see some later.

RB's
Ball- Not a lot to report today. A lot of passing today. Mostly HB dive up the middle plays. Ball was the only player to play along side Manning. All other RB's ran with Osweiler and the other backup QB's. During RB's catching drills showed good hands and caught everything thrown to him.

Anderson- Ran with the 2nd team and split snaps with Hillman. I still personally like Anderson. Ran with better pad level and behind his pads. Did miss a catch during drills.

Hillman- Split snaps with Anderson. Also, caught kickoff returns. They're trying to find a spot for him. Hate to think that they missed on Hillman, but 3rd picks don't make it all the time. Did take 1 carry wide for a good 8-9 yard gain.

Clay/Bibbs- Battling for the 4th spot. Did nothing great or bad.

TE's

J Thomas- With DT in the lineup, he became Manning's favorite target. I told a guy that sat by me that between JT and DT Broncos need to make JT the priority. Manning makes everybody better but its harder to find a stud TE than a stud WR. Had a couple of drops, but did beat Moore in 1-1 over the top near the back of the endzone.

Greene- Clearly the 2nd TE. Good blocking and quick in and out of his breaks. Did make a nice sideline hugging catch from Manning.

Tamme- He really is more of a H-back/ spiltback / motion TE type. Little to report.

G Robinson- Really the 4th TE. Nobody is challenging him especially with him and Oswieler having such a great connection. Made a good catch on a corner route from Oswieler.

WR's
Caldwell- With DT out to morn his Grandmother Caldwell took over for the #1 WR spot. Bit of a 1 note type player. Not big enough to out muscle press and route running isn't there. Though did have the highlight play of the day. Manning threw a deep fade route to Caldwell. The ball got hung up in the air for some reason. Talib got under the pass and waited the ball to drop to him. Out of nowhere Caldwell jumped up and wrestled Talib for the ball.

Sanders- Sanders is both fast and quick. Once Welker leaves Sanders will be more than able to take over at the slot position. Makes cuts in his routes hard to cover for anybody. Had a nice catch on a post route from Manning after he beat his man and the safety over committed to one side of the field.

Welker- Though I said that when Welker leaves his position will be well covered. I'm still glad we have him. He is the best at running that "Z" out route. Nearly impossible to cover.

Latimer- This might be the best draft pick outside of Von Miller. Good route runner and caught most everything thrown at him. He's fast, they even had him run a reverse during practice.

Burse- Might be a need for a 6th WR position. It'll most likely be DT, Sanders, Welker, Latime, Calwell. Burse would be 6. He's got some return skills. They did mostly Kickoff return and he and Hillman fielded kicks. I'm not advocating to cut Caldwell but it may come down to that. I'd personally be ok if, because of injury to other teams, trading Caldwell away and keeping Burse. But then again Injuries happen all the time and keeping Caldwell at the 5th spot might be important.

All the rest of the WR's are camp fodder. Sorry guys you're probably not making the cut so don't get hurt and maybe you guys will get picked up by another team.

O-line:
Not much to report. But the D-line did have the upper hand and did allow pressure on the QB's. I'll give the individual efforts of the D-linemen later.

Great report. We will definitely keep 6 at WR. Caldwell is a great fallback option should we have an injury at any of the positions.

When you do the D report let us know about the safety play. Been hearing Ward is really bringing attitude? What did you see from Q Carter?

Thanks for doing this Hobo! Really appreciate it!

So word on the street, well from some news sources and some players, is Kapri Bibbs is making noise in camp. You mentioned he didn't do anything?

I went today too. Not anything memorable. But I really don't know what I'm looking at. CJ Anderson on an edge run was the most memorable thing I took from the "bubble" group of RB's.

Ummmm there are no RB's named Williams. I'm working on the D report now. Had to go to the gym, work out some soreness. The sun really beat me up today.

Bibbs didn't do a lot of running today. Team seemed to be working a lot of passing out of the 311 and 221 personal groupings. He did catch a few swing and check down passes. Caught them all cleanly. Ball did do a "no no" when he bobbled a catch.
