Of course we would all love the Lombardi, but if the only time you get joy out of a sport is when your team wins the whole thing, you take sports WAY too seriously. People will get a lot more disappointment out of sports/life with that type of mentality. I can step back and be happy about what we did last season despite the SB loss.

They didn't steal my time. They added two weeks of fun and excitement leading up to the Super Bowl.

Yes TB us a douche but it wasn't great to be reminded of the SB again.
I'd rather be reminded we lost the Super Bowl than the AFCCG. Especially at home to the Pats. With as many starters as we had out, Fox missing for a month it was a small miricle we were even there. I think the experience alone is worth making it and losing as aposed to losing the AFCCG. I'm interested to see how we match up with a hopefully fully healthy squad come week 3.

How to win an NFL World Championship.

Step 1: Win your conference championship.
Step 2: Win the Super Bowl.

You can't win if you don't play. Only the weakest minded of pussies would hide from the opportunity to win it all.

Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.....

If given the choice of losing AFCCG or SB, the answer 100 times out of 100 Super Bowl.....can't win unless you're in it

You can't win a Superbowl if you don't play in one, and if you play in one you have a chance to lose.

Yeah it sucked, but that's the risk you take when you go.

Amazing how many have that loser mentality. I guess I'm just not wired that way.

No kidding. Especially a donkey punch like that. The Baltimore loss hurt more to me. Probably because we could have won. The SB beat downs were more like a reality check where we got totally outclassed. And having dealt with those since I was six, I am sadly familiar with the feeling. But since I've seen my team win two back to back, I am not as anguished as a Chief, Buffalo or Browns fan, for example.

Preferring losing over winning in any occasion is just sad.

Not making it to the super bowl raises questions about the team being able to make it to the big game - etc etc.

I'm sure John Elway would have preferred to not make his 1st 3 super bowls to avoid those losses too right? And not use it as learning experiences.

I'm sure the Heat would have rather just made 2 finals they won and miss the other 2 finals since they were embarrassed...right?

Seriously - it is pitiful and absolutely sad that anyone would prefer LOSING and not making the SB.
Going to have to strongly agree with this.

The feeling I felt that day when we manhandled the Pats was one that I'll always remember. I was stoked, pretty much on cloud nine for 2 weeks. Wouldn't trade that feeling to rid of the disappointment after the SB.

I am tired of people that think it is better to not go to the SB then to go and get blown out. Whatever happens from here on out DENVER BEAT THE PATS IN THE 2013 AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. That matters. It forks with Brady and Bilicheat's legacy and that makes me happy. Plus it gives Manning another knotch in his rivalry with Brady.

AND it was fun those two weeks of the SB hype. I don't think I would have had near as much fun if NE was playing the Seahawk...... call it a hunch.

The Patriots are my least-favorite team in the NFL. I relish it every single time they lose, especially in the playoffs when it's win-or-go-home. Placing their butts on the couch for the Super Bowl was quite satisfying, regardless of the SB outcome.

Love all the John Fox wannabees in here. Just say it already--he was right, shut your pie holes, the season was not too shabby according to your standards. "hey, we beat the Pats, went 13-3, won a few playoff games, not real shabby. SB loss, meh, at least we were there. You know, we showed up!"

It could be worse with a Josh McDaniels implode or a Shanny limp to 9-7/8-8 miss the playoffs or as whooping in WC.

But that isn't the premise of the question.

It isn't lose to the Pats by 1 or win and have the oppurtunity to win the SB.

It's a backward looking inquiry saying you can change A but you CANT change B, you can advance to the SB but you WILL get beatdown, that's how I interpret it.
