When I was in the truck buying market last year, it had been 20 years since I got my very first truck, which was a Chevy. It just floors me that trucks today cost twice as much, if not more, as they did back then. You take the average car and it doesn't cost twice as much. A nicely equipped full size quad cab truck will run you $40K+. That's just insane. Remember back then you thought, hmm, should I go with the 3 year plan or the 5 year plan. Now with these trucks costing like they do, I'm sure alot of folks are going, hmmm, do I go with the 6 year plan or the 7 year plan, hahaha. Ridiculous.

Indeed it is. The real interesting thing is that a truck is cheaper to insure in most states than a car or SUV. I had no idea until my agent told me.
I was expecting some ungodly quote and when she told me the rates were much cheaper I damn near did a jig

My guess is, you could take a stock Mustang GT or Camaro SS and dump $30-40k worth of modifications into it and get a faster car. Don't get me wrong, I think it's really cool, but I always look at the car's specs in relation to the price paid. Maybe i'm wrong, but that looks like a $70,000 car.

You can even get a Shelby GT 500 for $55k, then trick it out. The claim is the Challenger beat it by .3 seconds, and that would be pretty easy to make up with 15k extra to spend.
Yeah, but for those of us that love the true muscle cars, it's more of a collector's item because it is rolling off the factory floor this way. It's like getting a piece of history.

TOTAL BullS*hit. Back in "the old days" as a 16 year old I bought and could afford the insurance on a Deathtrap 1967 Firebird with a 400 ci engine.
Nowadays it cost me $100 a month to insure my kids on a pos 1995 dodge intrepid.

cmon hun, it's supposed to be you can sell something to somebody that they have no need for and don't want. An Arab already has all the sand in the world, he wouldn't want an ounce more. A golfer WANTS golf clubs, he would take the club gladly.

So I could say, she could sell water to a fish, or ice to an eskimo. Get it. They already have those in abundance. You couldn't use, selling protein to a weightlifter, he wants it and needs it.

Ok, lesson is over. You're getting dunked in the tank for that.

A neighbor put down nearly $50k on a beautiful new custom ordered F150 at the beginning of the year. Last month he showed up to the rock/gravel yard (we're both doing yard projects) with a rental Home depot truck. Yes, rocks will scratch your bed. For the 4th weeked a bunch of us volunteered to build a batting cage for the local little league fields. Of course he was the only one who didn't bring his truck to haul stuff.

...but it sure is pretty as it's being driven to the office.

Can't wait to buy it on the used car lot for $10k in a few years. I'll know it's been barely used.

You can find a 2004, Jaguar XJ8 for around $9k up, depending upon mileage.

It's one of the best car deals around.

Very nice despite Jag's outdated rep for reliability.

That is criminal. But as you said, in a few years it will be probably 10-15K used.

They are like BMW's and Mercs.

My last one I had for 7 years and put a muffler on it after 2.

I always buy used with a strong service history.

For the record, my daily driver is a 2013 Mustang GT Convertible, so you can say that I also love muscle cars. I understand the "history" of a limited release vehicle, but I also know they aren't usually a great "value." I think the Challenger is a fine car and Dodge should be proud of it, but I like my Mustang and if my budget was $70k, I would modify a GT 500 that would not only beat the Challenger in a 1/4 mile, but it would also destroy it in the turns where it counts.

Just my opinion.
