If that satisfies the thought police, then sure.

You want to talk witch hunt?

Where were you when Jim Inhofe (R-OK) was going after 17 climate scientists with his "hit list"?

Where were you when Ken Cuccinelli (Republican former AG of VA) was going after Mike Mann?

Where were you when Rush Limbaugh went after Katharine Hayhoe, climate scientist and evangelical Christian?

Where were you when Mark Steyn compared Mann to Jerry Sandusky?

Where were you when the Climate Research Unit emails were hacked and stolen and used to smear, attack, and slur climate scientists?

Where were you when Marc Morano, right-wing political hitman, was putting up scientists' email addresses and inviting harassment?

Your reference to the thought police is telling.

In Orwell's "1984" (the book that introduced the phrase "thought police" to the lexicon) it was the job of the thought police to enforce the belief that "2+2=5."

So, like I said, the thought police work for the deniers.

Who would construe the act of exposing liars, frauds and charlatans as a "witch hunt?"

Answer: Someone who is in bed with the liars, frauds and charlatans.

Driving my gas guzzler, at my church (Sports authority field at mile high), in the Dominican Republic, hunting polar bears, at home burning tires, and at wal mart.

A lot of conservatives believe the planet is warming. They even believe it is partly due to human co2. The reason they fight is because they know the whole topic has been used to turn it into a bunch of revenue producing taxes, a bunch of new programs for the govt to dole out subsidies, and a way to force people to live a different lifestyle.

All the while doing nothing to cool the Earth.

That's the myth.

Rejectionists don't like the potential policies, so they turn around and attack the science, hoping that reality can be changed via politics. They think their ideology is as good as the facts.

They're wrong.

They still haven't figured out what we should do when carbon-based fuels are no longer tenable energy sources. They're in denial about that, too.

To be a "conservative" nowadays basically means being a shill for anyone who is damaging the planet or harming people's health.

It's like the prime directive for these idiots: "Must...defend...big...business...no...matter...wha t..."

Their objections are based in all the money they get from the oil and gas industry, nothing more.

A Global War on Nature

In her bestselling book The Sixth Extinction, the New Yorker's superb environmental journalist, Elizabeth Kolbert, reports on an event, already unfolding in the present moment, the likes of which may only have been experienced five other times in the distant history of life on this planet. As she writes, “It is estimated that one-third of all reef-building corals, a third of all fresh-water mollusks, a third of sharks and rays, a quarter of all mammals, a fifth of all reptiles, and a sixth of all birds are headed toward oblivion. The losses are occurring all over: in the South Pacific and in the North Atlantic, in the Arctic and the Sahel, in lakes and on islands, on mountaintops and in valleys. If you know how to look, you can probably find signs of the current extinction event in your own backyard.”

Scientists believe that this round of mass extinction is accelerating, and one way or another, it all traces back to us, whether thanks to the way we are changing the planet’s atmosphere or to what Kolbert terms a human-induced, often disastrous “intercontinental reshuffling of species.”

Good! Let's get everyone on record an actually have a debate. Problem is WAGS and his ilk will NEVER do something like that. It's too comfortable calling people 'deniers' and 'flat earthers' and running away. It prevents legitimate debate on topics (and actually having to admit you're wrong) pertaining to warming and legitimate policies therein. God forbid we do that and let the American public see.

The debate has been underway in the literature for decades. That's where hypotheses and ideas are tested, examined, improved or discarded. That's also where the rejectionists have massively failed to make their case withstand the scrutiny of the scientific community.

Science doesn't move forward by presentations given before the public in an auditorium. That only rewards showmanship and rhetorical ability, and doesn't rely on facts or reason.

Now, the debate over policies is another matter entirely. That must be done in public. Let's have that discussion, and let the science inform that debate, and drop the silly attacks on the science and the scientists, because that accomplishes absolutely nothing, and doesn't change reality one little bit.

Yeah, right.

Putting profit before planet is the truly hateful and downright stupid plan.

Where's our backup planet if this one gets too ****ed up?

No, this post sums up what is wrong with people and why they have become a disease infecting the natural world. Instead of thinking of ourselves as part of nature and working to find our place within it, we set up an adversarial relationship with nature and those who point out that this is bad are said to "hate people" because they dare point out the obvious. In the end it is you and your kind who really seem to hate people with your constant defense of that which serves only to hasten humanity's demise.
