Default Jim Irsay is a friggin mess!

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay charged with OUI

By CNN Staff

updated 4:50 PM EDT, Fri May 23, 2014

CNN) -- Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance on Friday, just over two months after his arrest, a prosecutor said.

The misdemeanor charges were filed in Hamilton County, Indiana, Superior Court, Prosecuting Attorney D. Lee Buckingham's office said in a press release.

Irsay's initial hearing on the charges is scheduled for June 19.

Police in Carme had earlier said that Irsay was stopped at 11:41 p.m. on March 16 for driving slowly, stopping in a roadway and failing to use his turn signal.

He failed roadside field sobriety tests, and a search of his vehicle found prescription drugs in bottles, police said in a press release. The drugs were not associated with any prescription bottles in the vehicle, according to police.

Report: Irsay's Behavior Was Alarming Around Colts Organization

From

Jim Irsay’s arrest for operating while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance may not have come as a shock within the Colts’ facility.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, some people with connections to the Colts franchise had grown concerned about the owner’s behavior.

“There are people around the Colts organization who have been suspicious about some of his behavior,” Schefter said Monday morning on SportsCenter.

No details were given about Irsay’s suspicious behavior. Irsay has acknowledged his struggles with addiction but has claimed that he stopped drinking 15 years ago. Irsay will be subject to discipline from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

If the NFL determines it reaches that level of an offense, they're within their rights.

I doesn't though.

Mike Freeman's 10-Point Stance: Not Punishing Colts Owner Jim Irsay Looks Bad

Recently, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was arrested after he was stopped going 10 miles per hour in a 35-mph zone. Police say Irsay had trouble standing, his speech was slurred, and he had bottles of prescription pills and $29,000 in cash in his Toyota Highlander, per The Associated Press (via ESPN). Goodell, as in the case with Rice and Smith, has not disciplined Irsay, who is also subject to the personal-conduct policy.

In many cases—definitely not all—the NFL will wait until a case is adjudicated or a plea deal is reached before Goodell imposes discipline under the personal-conduct policy. It's been two full seasons since a player has been suspended under the personal-conduct policy. So what the league is doing with Irsay in waiting to see what happens is, mostly, common practice.

.... That is not in any way a unique sentiment. Despite the fact the NFL often waits on punishment with players, it's the perception that it doesn't, that the league has a quicker trigger with arrested players than it has with Irsay, which is damaging its reputation.

"Of course there's a double standard," one veteran player told me. "He's punished many players before the court system was finished (with) the case. The owners are his bosses."

After Irsay was arrested, a series of tweets from Falcons wide receiver Roddy White in many ways symbolized the feelings from players.

Thank goodness he didn't say anything disparaging about black people. Otherwise there would be cause for outrage.

Police: Jim Irsay Was Arrested With A Briefcase Full Of Pills And Cash

Colts owner Jim Irsay had "numerous" bottles of prescription pills and more than $29,000 in cash on him when he was arrested last week, according toarrest reports obtained by the
Indianapolis Star.

Irsay's Toyota Highlander was pulled over around 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, after an officer saw him driving erratically. He was driving 10 mph in a 35 mph zone, the officer wrote, and on two occasions came to a complete stop in the middle of the road. At that point the officer pulled alongside.
"I asked him if he knew why I had pulled him over. Irsay advised that he was trying to find his house and gets confused with what road it is located on."

The officer described Irsay as "disoriented," wrote that his speech was "slow and slurred" and his eyes "red and watery."

Officers attempted to perform sobriety tests on Irsay, but had to cut some of them short. While receiving instructions for the horizontal gaze nystagmus test (following a target from side to side), Irsay was unable to stand with his feet together. He was also unable to walk a straight line, being unable to stand heel-to-toe without two officers supporting him for fear he would fall.

Asked to recite the alphabet from "C" to "N," Irsay did as told, but then started again and went through the entire alphabet. "After reciting the letter Z," the officer wrote, "Irsay recited the lettering I, N and G."

SExpand
After Irsay was taken to jail (where he refused a blood test, which means a mandatory one-year suspension of his drivers' license), police searched his vehicle. They discovered $29,029 in cash, located in a metal briefcase on the passenger's seat, one of two laundry bags on the floor of the vehicle, and in Irsay's wallet. In the briefcase and two laundry bags they found "numerous prescription medication bottles containing pills...various color and kinds of pills."

The arrest reports don't specify the type of pills, but the preliminary charges facing Irsay classify them as Schedule IV substances.

Irsay faces four counts of felony drug possession and one misdemeanor count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He had a hearing scheduled for yesterday, after his attorney requested a cancellation because Irsay is in a rehab clinic, his next court date has been postponed indefinitely.

This will either end with prison or death, and that pretty soon. He's not going to rehab, and he has way too much money to ever really hit rock bottom.

This. Addicts need the fear of death. All this did was show him he needs to tighten some things up during his binges and use his circle of enablers friends to better help him use and conceal.

That's pretty damn ridiculous that he didn't get charged with the drugs.

A non-rich, non-famous person would have been charged with intent to sell with that much cash and drugs on him.
