I am not Kahn but I want everyone to know how much I hate both of the Reboot movies.

So glad JJ has moved on to Star Wars.

Despite this warning, I'm going this weekend. I've heard that it lacks action to a degree until the end, which is the last thing I expected to hear about a Godzilla movie.

Most Godzilla movies have a ton of "filler." Way too many scenes of boring humans talking. If you want to see classic Japanese monster movies with lots of action, check out War of the Gargantuas, King Kong Escapes or Destroy All Monsters. Final Wars is probably the most action oriented of the newer Godzilla movies.

I really enjoyed Godzilla vs King Kong when I was a kid. And another where he fought against a giant, roach looking alien, can't remember what it was called.

That would be Godzilla vs. Andy Reid.

I disagree. I feel the signal to noise ratio is about the same now as it has ever been since the onset of the Blockbuster Era (late 70's)

Oh broncosteven, its about to get so much worse. I have no love for Abrams, but he does have a decent cinematic eye. No, the real culprits of the Trek Reboot monstrosities have been Kurtzman and Orci, two of the worse hacks in Hollywood who did something I thought impossible, the have made me hate them as screenwriters more than Akiva Goldsmith.

So, while Abrams and Kurtzman have departed unfortunately Roberto Orci remains. (he of 9/11 truther fame who decided to make the plot of Into Darkness a soapbox for his conspiracy theories) And not only will he write the script for the next cinematic atrocity to damage the Star Trek brand, he will direct it as well.

So yeah broncosteven, its about to get a whole lot worse.

Hey, I am actually fully on board with seeing the movie (they should have kept the title All You Need Is Kill) Looks like a fun concept, Emily Blunt looks hot, and the exosuits look pretty awesome. Oddly enough, if it wasn't for Cruise, I bet this film would be getting a lot more positive buzz.

It isn't a "bad" movie at all...I am very fond of the corny Godzilla flicks from when I was a kid which is why we went to see this. It's a very good rental, but yes...for a Godzilla movie, you don't see a lot of Godzilla.

I will say some of the references are great.

My recommendation for Godzilla:

1. Rent it.
2. Watch opening credits.
3. Fast forward between 45 minutes and 1 hour, depending on your attention span.
4. Watch remainder of movie, enjoy the monster fights, and make up your own reasons how things came to that point because whatever you come up with will be more rational than what you missed.

Yep. It turns into a "how many times can one person almost die" thing too.

Most of his are. I find 90% of the Cruise hate has nothing to do with his movies and everything to do with him personally. Just re-looked at his roster of movies on imdb and it's ridiculous how many great movies he's in. Had to go all the way back to 2001's Vanilla Sky to find one I just didn't enjoy at all.

Could not agree more. His films are always a must see for me.

Couldn't tell you the last time I bothered to go see a TC movie in a theater. MI3 maybe? Don't even think I've seen most of his movies since then.

Guy does nothing for me.

I thought the new Godzilla movie was decent
Not a great movie by any means, but was a decent homage to Godzilla.

I saw it in Imax 3-d so the action was visually impressive

I did find one part at the end funny though

kind of a spoiler but not really:
After he wrecks shop he decides to take a nap...lol Then just gets up and goes home

I disliked Oblivion, Rock of Ages, Every MI (except Ghost Protocol), Knight and Day and War of the Worlds. He's not terrible, but also nothing special.

Reminds me of the last remake of King Kong. I am sick to death of all these crappy reboots- Robocop, Judge Dredd, etc., etc.

Hey, for the most part I agree with you. But don't lump Judge Dredd in with that mess. The Karl Urban Judge Dredd was ten time better than the Stallone Dredd could ever hope to be.

That's like saying "Pauly Shore is ten times funnier than Carrot Top could ever hope to be."

I view it more as Patton Oswalt is ten times funnier than Carrot Top could ever hope to be as both Patton and Karl have geek cred and tend to respect the source material.

Yeah, but it's a remake of a movie that was not made all that long ago. In addition, what inspired the remake because the original was crap. Why are we remaking crappy movies in the first place

Why not come up with something original or shine some light on little known true stories if an original idea is impossible?

Hollywood has gotten lazy.

I would rather they remake crappy movies and make them better than remake good movies and make them worse.

Of course, I would really like it if they tried to do something original for a change, but that is probably too much to ask.
