Default Will California Chrome win the triple crown?

This horse just took the 2nd step towards the triple crown by winning the Preakness today. Won the Kentucky Derby obviously already. Up next, the Belmont. It's a longer race and this is where many horses that have won the first 2 fall short. There have only been 11 triple crown winners ever and only 24 horses in the last 114 years have won the first 2, only to come up short. The last triple crown winner was in 1978 (36 years ago).

Alot of people are calling this 'America's Horse' because the owners breeding fees were so low.

It would be great for this horse to accomplish this feat, showing that it doesn't always take big bucks to achieve a dream and be the best.

I'm gonna say no. I loved to see it be otherwise, but that Belmont stretch seems to have humbled every two timer lately.

Good luck Chrome!

I'd like to see it since there has never been one in my lifetime. I am going to say no though as there are horses that have no chance in Churchill and Preakness that can win the Belmont with the extra 1/4 mile. Other horses such as Danza took this weekend off to prep for Belmont.

That's a really cool story. Tell me more about it on a forum dedicated to an NFL team.

Point is there are people that do not care about horse racing, NFL and AMA just not everyone. So the answer to your question "Who gives a shiit?" is a lot of people do.

New York racing rules might not allow CA Chrome to wear his nasal strip as he has been too.

I hope California Chrome wins the Belmont. Having a chance to win the Triple Crown gets casual horse racing fans (like me) interested.

I remember in my teen years many experts said that there probably would never be another Triple Crown winner because of the length of the Belmont (Citation had won it in 1948, before my time). Then Secretariat came along and the long drought was finally broken. Two more Triple Crown winners followed in the next few years (Seattle Slew and Affirmed).

I'm saying they will take him to Orange County in July. One more race would be either Belmont or OC. if they can't get the Ok on nose strips. I could see them pulling him out of the Belmont without even blinking an eye.

No way, they won't pass up the chance to win that triple crown. It's not like it's a huge deal, that owner is making it out to be more then it is. For god sake, it's a breath strip. I can't see why NY is being such puds over it but at the same time, I couldn't see an owner pulling his horse for this when the chance is there to do something that has only been done 11 times in over 100 years. He'll be at the Belmont, make no mistake. The owner is simply talking the talk right now to force Belmonts hand. Belmont doesn't want a race with a healthy scratch from this horse. The fans would be in a meltdown. NY did force it's hand a few years ago same thing, a Derby and Preakness winner was not allowed to wear the strip but they might have caved in eventually. The horse was scratched due to injury so it never became an issue.

Not the typical owner though. I'm not sure why NY has a problem with it either. I want to see him go for the triple crown too

The owner is a bit too over mysterious. He wears the same cloths on races. The horse hasn't lost since the strip, but to be honest, that was the same time they switched jockey's too. I think that's the real change. You saw it in the last race. He came out of the gate pretty good but a few horses were breaking way way to early and he had to jump Chrome outside a bit to avoid getting boxed in. Was a great move by the jockey and he put the horse in perfect position to do what he does.

Quick mention for Ride On Curlin. What a great closing segment by that horse. Rounding the last corner was almost in last place, what a push to get close to Chrome at the finish.
