John Elway will pay DT what he's worth - and I wouldn't be surprised if he pays just a bit more to keep him here on a front loaded contract.

JE has shown loyalty to players born in a Broncos uniform.

DT's value doesn't only lie in what he does in the season - but this guy shows up in the post season every chance he gets.

Playing through the super bowl with a dislocated shoulder and setting a record? He was the only player that came to play that day.

Perhaps the first negative thing I've read about this pick. He does like the Roby and Barrow picks however.
I think everyone who has liked the pick has mentioned that he needed to clean up his routes and that he's fairly raw anyways. It's like looking at the same thing from the other side I guess.

If you are going to have a downgrade at the QB position, I sure hope you'd keep your best WR's.

I get what you are saying. Market value vs. Value specific to our team

DT is too good and too much of a mismatch not to lock up

If nothing else Brock has a cannon for an arm so at least has the potential to stretch with defense with DT's speed

I really like Latimer though
I think once he gets up to speed he will be better than Decker

Agree

Plus he won't fall in open field

I will say in support of paying him: Steelers playoffs.
Yes, he was able to dominate with Tebow (and Orton) throwing somewhere near him.

We have two options

1) Pay him.
2) No 2, just pay him.

1:12 in that clip. That's what gets you drafted. That was a great route by Latimer, setting up his defender, keeping his speed in and out of his cuts and then finally catching the ball when he knew he was going to get lit up by the safety.

If Latimer can run his routes like that in training camp then he's going to see plenty of action this year.

Why did he jump so high up on draft boards? Was it solely based on 40 time? Draft a la raiders of the past? He was a late rounder 4th 5th then invited to draft, What made him appealing in such a short time?

Maybe because he had 1 drop ALL of last year on over 100 targets...

Other than that IAOFM article where are you seeing he was projected as a 4 / 5 round pick?

Funny that I called Latimer to start this season, and somebody "corrected" me by saying that no, is going to be Sanders the starter and not Latimer...
Of course, it's still early to tell with certainty who will replace Decker. Training camp will determine that...
My money is still on Latimer to be the starter...

Just google Latimer 4th round projection. He rose up fast. It was known he only dropped one pass when he was labeled at 4th

His combine and workouts certainly helped. I wouldn't doubt that personal interviews and going through the X's and O's with some coaches boosted him up either.

Greg Gabriel (National Football Post) is the only one I can find who had Latimer rated as a 4th-5th round prospect.

Here's a place that said 4th-5th. There's several examples if you just google. You have to look at the articles before April/may.

He didn't jump, the fear was that his foot would affect his stock but when he ran that time it affirmed that it wasn't a serious issue.

- He was voted team MVP
- Rarely dropped a pass
- Explosive vertical leap at 39 inches
- 72 catches for 1,096 yards while running an injured foot
- Gets great body positioning on jump ball to box out defenders

Combine that with his ability to dip/burst out of his cuts and limited experience then it's pretty clear he has a lot more room to get better since he worked mostly with short passes and has the size/speed to genuinely beat press coverage off the jam at the NFL level.

I thought he injured the foot "training for the 3-cone" in the draft. Now I'm seeing that he ran on an injured foot all year. Which one is it?

I get all those measurables. But he def jumped up boards. I haven't seen one example of him being talked about as a 1st-2nd before the surgery. All he did at the combine was bench press. I'm just saying its impressive(and a little nervousness) when someone shoots up that fast.
