After all DT has done for the Broncos you guys think Elway is going to let him go as he's going into his prime?

Come on, you guys are better than this. (Not PriceJJ though, proven idiot).

No way Broncos let DT go.

DT, Latimer, Sanders, and JT is a very imposing receiving group.

DT is going no where. He will be re-signed and likely spend 95% or more of his career as a Bronco.

DT is very fast, his issue is that he is not the tear the cover off the top of the D type WR.
He can house a bubble screen or short throw.
He can go up and get the ball.

That is why so many fans perceive him as slower than he is.

at Latimer replacing DT.

If they wont pay him, why pay anyone for that matter?

Let everyone go since they are expensive, right, price?

He does though - those screens and short throws are to get DT involved in the game.

Anytime there is no safety over the top, Manning is throwing the ball to DT.

I don't have any issue with the screens and short throws.
I think DT is going to house it each time he touches it.

It's just that you do not see DT or any of the Broncos WR's really stress the defense down the field and see a lot of 50 yard bombs where you see them get behind the D and torch them.

Sanders adds that potential threat, Latimer may as well, depending on how he is used and plays.
Of course, that is also not a huge part of our offense as we attempt to take advantage of the defense and carve them up more than just chunk it down the field and score.

1st down, 2nd down, 1st down.

That is the hope, and throw in 5-7 TD's. And hopefully he comes up big in the playoffs.

Exactly, Manning is gonna complete about 350-400 passes and he will spread the ball around. Welker will still play a big role in this offense

An example that comes to mind is Brandon Marshall's catch as a Bronco against Dallas, where the corner was waiting for the interception and Marshall just put his arms over the guy and made the catch on his way to a TD. That is the type of catch Latimer shows he can make on tape.
Terrance Newman. Orton throws it straight to Newman and Marshall leaps from behind and literally takes the ball from him.

I would never recommend it, but it remains an option. I see a far higher possibility that Latimer lines up on the outside opposite DT in 2015. I've made it known throughout the draft process that the Broncos would need to draft a starter to replace Decker who could be ready in 2015. The time to draft that guy was this year, and Latimer is the perfect pick.

In what universe is this a option?
It's one thing to let Decker go because you feel his numbers and value are inflated by Manning. DT is a top 5 WR and a legit #1 option.
Even with Latimer in the fold you still cannot lose DT.

for some reason Latimer reminds me of David Boston before he joined the Chargers. Huge, physical WR who can run. I'm pretty excited about this pick.

Manning will take a pay cut before we lose DT. Elway won't let DT walk just so Manning can hog up 20m for 2 more years.

Manning has 2-3 years left. DT has a career ahead of him.

In the salary cap universe, anything but dumping Manning is an option.

Denver isn't letting DT walk barring a catastrophic injury or some insane off the field incident. The Broncos have maneuvered themselves to set up for the big signings coming up.

it's not even worth discussing or arguing in the Cody Latimer thread.

soooo, let's get back to talking aboot Cody Latimer.

We are not now nor will we be anytime in the near future in salary cap hell enough to lose DT.
We would literally have to let DT walk for us to lose him unless he just refused to be a Bronco anymore.

Boston was a different kind of animal though. He was a huge dude and didn't lack speed. He was about 230 when he was draft and kept getting bigger and bigger.

Latimer is an excellent run blocker, which is why I believe it when Vic says he'll compete right away.

I think he rendered Caldwell obsolete the second he was drafted.

Can we just give him the moniker "MF" already and be done with it?

I hear is Decker was lucky to be that good of a receiver and we have his replacement. I am not jumping the gun on this just yet.

Latimer can step in and run go routes ...etc...from day one. It's not rocket science. They can use his young fresh legs to open things up for everyone else. You can't do that when he's sitting on the bench.
