Like most countries, it's very regional. Where I was, it was heavy into seafood and rice dishes, local meats, potatoes and eggs. First time I ever had rabbit was here and it was incredible.

Here's the menu for the place I was mentioning earlier that really does a good job of including dishes from every region....and they are spot on with their prep. Every time I go I get flashbacks of my time there. I've been to several other supposedly "authentic" Spanish restaurants and they're just not the same.

im not chinese. i don't care if you hate asians or hate chinese... but saying all chinese are dirty is a bs remark.
I worded it wrong. That's why I apologized to Hobo. I guess the only answer is to ban me for a lifetime because of my "hatred" towards Asians.

Agreed. Back to the topic of food, I've never tried actual Middle-Eastern food. Isn't it mostly veggies? Is there something anybody would recommend for a first timer?

the food in denver sucks. dallas isn't much better. however, houston is awesome. if I had to compare, NYC has the best chinese food. been to china town SF, wasn't that impressed. maybe i just don't know the area. someone mention chicago? argyle area? i wasn't impressed, dallas is much better.

as far as viet food, little saigon Cali is #1, houston #2 and San Jose #3.

Their sound foley is amazing. The drips from the planks on salted fish roe. It's very visceral and engaging. Communists know how to put on a show.

IDK the Chinese food in Europe tastes an awful lot lot like the Chinese food in Colorado.

Probably a tie between Mexican (Americanized Mexican) and Italian.

If you like Thai or Chinese, and haven't tried Vietnamese, you are cheating yourself. I'd kill to find a place in Denver that serves good Bo Luc Lac.

The Chinese food you get in most parts of the states is actually an invention of the husbands that came over to build the railroads, couldn't cook, and just improvised with what they had. I'm not a huge fan, but then again I'm from Hong Kong so I love my Cantonese (and Shanghainese) food. Sundays as a kid were spent in air conditioned rooms eating Dim Sum. That remains the most consistently good meal of my life. I did not grow up eating much Szechuanese or Western Chinese food, but that stuff's good too... it's just spicier and quite different. Still the meat to grain ratio remains awesome.

A large part of Japanese cuisine is significantly healthier, though Chinese all like their veggies too.

I love Italian food (pasta) for its simplicity and the fact that it just feels clean and healthy provided you don't douse it with cream or cheese. Greek food's got that too but I haven't eaten THAT much Greek food in my life. I love an American burger in the sun in the summer, but that's about where my relationship with American food starts and ends.

1. Chinese for taste
1. Japanese for health + taste
2. Korean (meat + asian flavours)
3. Italian
4. French (delicious but they don't innovate)
5. Indonesian (Nasi Goreng b****es)

I have issues with certain types of foods that are more expensive than they should be, especially when they were traditionally made very inexpensively and restaurants want to charge more.

I don't believe in expensive Mexican food, for example. I think the best Mexican food is cheap out of one of those family owned restaurants in north Denver or from a street vendor. Hacienda Colorado is ridiculous to me. Mexican ingredients are cheap so if you're paying 10 bucks for a burrito, something isn't right. Same thing for the Mediterranean food.
cmon Kaylore Mexican cuisine is about a lot more then a burrito or a taco. Also a lot of what you pay for in a restaurant is service, them preparing your food, not just how much the ingredients cost.

Also Mexican food has tons of delicious seafood dishes and many other that contain a lot more then beans, cheese and a tortilla.

I didn't grow up with Mexican food. I hated beans but then I moved to the states and after a year or two I was hooked up Mexican. However, from what I've heard, it's nothing like the real food in Mexico. That said Amerixcan food is ****ing dope (not to be confused with Tex Mex).

italian, you got pasta with different sauces of which i can only eat the tomato paste because the white sauce is too filling.

mexican involves everything corn and salsa. nothing creative.

the different foods i can get in a japanese, chinese and vietnamese restaurant is unreal. forget the bullcrap chinese restaurants. i want the authentic restaurants. damn pf changs and pei wei gives chinese food a bad name. been to pf changs once, i looked at the menu and just shook my head.

thai is good too, but too expensive
korean is awesome as well, but the menu isn't that huge either.
Must not be any good Mexican joints in Denver.

Chinese food,.......... BLAH! Aint nothing i like about it.

Mexican in the US differs greatly based on location. Tex Mex out here and the Cali Mex food is very different from the New Mexican food. Not sure where Colorado falls in. NM Mexican food is heavenly. Same is true in Mexico, the north has a very different climate and taste from the south.
