I dont think it rules out OL as an early pick at all.

I think it does. Theres no starting job for any rookie up for grabs to seriously consider on offensive line. At all. The defense on the other hand could use a starting CB and MLB. A backup edge rusher would be ideal as well.

Clark isnt a lock to start at RT, i'm not as high as him as some on here are.

A guy like Morgan Moses could be a possibility.

Besides, if Franklin sucks at LG, he could move back to RT.

And someone else could slide inside to LG.

We could use another CB, yes, but Harris/Talib should be the starters. Harris' ACL is only 30% torn, not 100%.

Regards to MLB, if Shazier or Mosely fall to us, Elway should run up to the podium and announce the pick himself.

Id say Clark is as close to a lock at RT as you can get. The guy played very good for the Broncos last season, so Im not sure why youre not high on him. THe Broncos are obviously high on him. Even before he started a game for them, they resigned him to a 2 year deal.

Fraklin isnt going to suck at LG. Albeit college, he flat out dominated at LG. I think he may be a better fit there than RT. The Broncos will not draft a olineman early to hedge against Fraklin or Clark. Their play dosent warrant that.

Franklin is a mauler, who at times gets his ass handed to him by speed rushers. Moving him inside makes the best sense.

Or am I wrong there?

Franklin can move back to RT if clark gets hurt.

don't remember Franklin ever getting his ass handed to him outside of the super bowl, and that's even with Tebow at QB.

I see this as a way to get your 5 best olineman on the field.

I like when people say such and such isn't a lock to start because they aren't as high on said player as others. OK coach!

we won't be drafting Mosley, because he's not on our draft board.

Elway is not drafting an injury riddled, soft player.

Colts game. Was it Franklin or Clark that gave up the sack fumble?

When Franklin gets beat, its almost always speed rushers (remember Cameron Wakes VS Franklin his rookie year.....ehhhhhhh.......) But he hardly ever gets beat by anyone anymore. I dont think your wrong though, because he is a mauler in the run game so moving him inside seems like a great fit especially for our situation.

I hate this move unless we are drafting a OT early. Even then I prefer Franklin to remain at RT.

Like I said weeks ago:

1. Chris Clark is likely the starting RT for the remainder of Manning's career.
2. Franklin will be the best LG in the entire NFL, and will be paid handsomely next offseason (not by the Broncos).

Well, they can also use a 1st or 2nd round pick at OT. The brass knows how good Painter is we don't. If they don't like him they probably wouldn't do this move or they will at least take a high round OT.

Need you best 5 players on the field...period.

Broncos can try out Ben Garland, Will Montgomery, and Ryan Miller for LG of the future after Franklin is gone. Not necessary to spend any draft picks on OL at all. They have a glut of cheap options that would work. OL and DL are completely set, unless they feel like cutting ManRam to save cap space.

Add Painter to the list of possible LG's. He only has 34" arms, not optimum for OT.

I think Painter is still a very raw young player just learning the position. I dont think hes a factor in any of the oline shuffling equation. Of course, I could be wrong, but that my opinion.

Besides, Winston Justice was the backup tackle last season, not Painter. Hes still on the roster this season. He could be a decent vet backup tackle, or if not, sign another vet. Thats what Id do. I definelty dont think the Broncos have to grab a olineman at all in the early rounds. Later, yes. Thats probably a good long term strategy. But the online depth isnt an urgent concern to me.
