Default Roby or Verrett?

Let's say Shazier/Mosely/Ford/Fuller are all gone (pretty good possibility)

Who would you take if Verrett or Roby are both there.

I don't really see it with Verrett, but maybe it's just me. He doesn't seem like a great athlete.

He has all the measurables, minus height.

Good arm length, a little over 30 inches.

Ran a 4.38 or 4.39, 40-time.

I'm not advocating drafting him, i want Fuller but if all of those 4 are gone, i can see it but Elway seems to want bigger CB's....

Verrett, because he's tenacious on man and would be superb in the slot. The Broncos will need a good slot CB this year who can play man and be a legit guy who can fill in for Harris in case he takes awhile to come back from the ACL. Also, Harris is going to demand a premium contract next offseason, which the Broncos might not be able to afford.

In the end, I think Verrett would be the best guy who could help us win a Superbowl this year, if the top 3 are gone (Mosley, Shazier, Fuller).

Only problem is the stupid dreads.

I posted these in the OMane mock when I took Mitchell..

There are some big misconceptions about CB strengths, who lined up where, and how they would fit in our defense.

I would be surprised if the Broncos took either one at 31. Maybe in a trade down or if they couldn't pull a trade off, but Fuller is the guy they would take if there, which seems unlikely. Roby has more size, but Verrett is the "safer" type pick IMO. I think I'd rather they take a CB later like say a Watkins, whose size and speed are comparable.

They can use guys in house for this too. If they took one, fine, but I don't see this as glaring a need as another nickel LB

I really see Denver trading up to get their guy...Pryor in the first and Borland in the second.

Thanks for posting that article, it basically reaffirms what I've been seeing on video.

1. Dennard is polished and ready - You can a on video he uses his hands extremely well. He's almost always in the WR's hip pocket, even though he doesn't have great downfield speed. Speed definitely didn't seen to be a problem, and he was tested long a bunch.

2. Verrett is well-rounded - though he's not a press guy, he lines up close and has good quick-twitch movement. Tough to beat him deep, due to his excellent speed. Can get overpowered downfield by bigger WR's.

3. Roby played in a horrible scheme - He's physical and is quick to run up and tackle, but consistently lining up 10 yards off is a bad idea. How is he in press? We have no clue.

Terrance Mitchell is interesting, I'll have to check him out.

Kiper has a way of finding out stuff right before the draft. The thing I like about Verrett is he's fiesty. Not a sexy physical shutdown corner, but not the type of guy that's going to be targeted over and over again either. He's got some fight in him despite being smallish. We could definitely use a guy like him, even though he's not ideal. He's not a weak link. A Defense without any weak links is very tough to beat.

wow a nickel backer plays about what 30-40 plays a game? A gaurd is out there protecting the franchise every play.

Also our interior oline needs to be better then last yr. IMO you don't get that letting one guy go and trying to fill that spot by switching players around. It's not a good plan and IMO points to the fact Elway is 100% going to take a guard within the first 2 rounds.

I think they'd have to get in front of Green Bay at 21. Pretty unlikely.

Right now we have options at guard. Who is our option as the other LB in the nickel It's trevathan and who? Nate Irving? Great!

Our offense was all world last season and with the exception of one game, they protected Peyton just fine. I'm confident you could slide Franklin or Manny over there and be fine. Either way, a rookie is gonna have some problems too

Meh, would be a waste to trade up, too much depth in the draft.

Lelo I agree with you about the importance of a NLB. We play 60% of our defensive snaps there. So we need another coverage LB for sure.

I don't see the need, nor value in drafting a LG in Round 1. Fua is the only "first round" labeled Guard, and Frankly there are some I like better than him. Not out of the gate, but long term, and we can have them in the second-fourth rounds.
