didn't see this posted, thought it was interesting:

Bears GM Phil Emery revealed he recently did a "study" that showed late-round quarterback draft picks aren't worth the trouble.
Some people seem to believe late-round QBs can be "developed," but it doesn't happen. "That developmental theory doesn't hold a whole lot of water," Emery said. "So who has gotten developed? There isn't a single quarterback after the third round since 2006 that has been a long-term starter. ... And most of them (third-round QBs) have been wiped out of the league." Emery's analysis doesn't bode well for the likes of Keith Wenning (Ball State) and Brett Smith (Wyoming).

The DE spot in this draft is pretty weak. If you don't get one early, like say by the end of the 2nd round, then not likely getting one that not only won't do much this year, but lucky to get one that sticks around awhile.

I think Ward is the 2nd safety off the board.

While it is true there are a lot of teams that simply do not know what the **** they are doing when trying to develop certain positions.

It's true, but in reality, teams taking a QB later in drafts are just hoping they can develop a quality backup at least and then who knows. Which yes, most don't even make it to that either, but look how many 1st round QB busts there have been. It goes to show how hard it is to find a QB anywhere in the draft. Manziel, Bortels, Bridgewater, Carr, etc. are no locks to become anything great either.

It is all about scouting and development.
The round doesn't always matter. Players fall for different reasons and they fail for different reasons.
You can have a 1st round talent fall for off the field issues and still not get his act together, you can have a similar talent fall for measurables and then prove scouts wrong.

The draft itself is a bit of a crap shoot. The more you cloud the process with preferences the more likely you are to not develop the guy or miss on a pick and pass over a future star.

Wow. So you're saying HaHa or Pryor will be there in the middle or late teens.

I could see Pryor falling into the early 20's. I'm not convinced Jimmie Ward won't still be available when we pick, though.

If Pryor is still there in the 20's, I think I'd try to make a mild trade. I think there are half a dozen pick, if they fell into the 20's, I'd make a trade for. HaHa, Pryor and Gilbert.

Woodrow Paige reports Sua-Filo and Allen Robinson Penn State WR brought in for visits.

IAOFM has a link stating Stanford RB Tyler Gaffney visited with the Broncs.

IAOFM likes Shazier and Kyle Fuller.

Agreed. I want us to trade up for Gilbert or Dennard badly, although it's unlikely. If Shazier, Mosley, Pryor fall into the 20's I think John makes a move.

Interesting. Tamme and Dreesen aren't getting any younger.

For RB I'm wondering if they'll pick some competition. Not many visits, maybe they still love them some Hillman.

WOuldn't it be awesome if Franklin to guard was a smokescreen so we could nab Sua Fila without the Hawks jumping us for him. I heard they covet him.

I'm not saying I believe that, just saying it would make me happy on draft day.

I think TE one of those obvious spots they will add a player. But it will be to add a bkup so I think that is why we don't talk about it alot.

Green the blocker, Thomas the reciever, but they will need a guy to backup both spots.

My friend who is a Dixie State alum swears that if he gets healthy Joe Don Duncun is the best TE in the draft. He did like 35 reps at the combine but couldnt run yet.

Hell he might be a UDFA.

Not sure it is but if the like XSF, then they could just move OF back to RT, but his tweet doesnt sound like its just temporary.

I don't think so, but I don't like the idea of taking an interior OL in the 1st.

He wouldn't be my first choice at WR but I would be comfortable taking him in the 2nd. Unless it was over Adams. Then I will have to hate on Elway for a few moments before getting on board with the pick.

Put me down for Gaines at #31. He's a shutdown CB. All he needs is to pump some more iron, and he'll be unstoppable.

My latest iteration of Broncos 5 round mock:

#31 - Phillip Gaines
#63 - Jack Mewhort
#95- Avery Williamson
#124 - Jeff Janis
#155- Kapri Bibbs

5 future starters. Stab 'em and slab 'em...
