I am not high on Shazier to begin with and especially not as a MLB.
He is not a MLB to me. He is a WLB.
His draft value to me is 25-32.

DJ was considered a much bigger name and had a higher value than Shazier.
DJ was at one point considered to be a potential top 12-15 pick in that draft.
Only 2 LB's went in the first round of that draft and both were ranked #1 at their respective positions.
The only people talking up Shazier as a similar prospect are on this board and OSU fan sites.

No way teams are just going to let Shazier drop.
What the hell are you talking about?
Just last year Jarvis Jones was projected higher than Shazier before the injury concerns. 2012 Melvin Ingram, 2011 Von Miller & Aldon Smith, 2009 Aaron Curry, Brian Cushing, 2007 Lawrence Timmons, 2006 Ernie Sims & Chad Greenway, 2005 DeMarcus Ware,Shawne Merriman & David Pollack

This is just going back to 2005 and including only guys who were drafted strictly as a LB. Not including guys that were at first drafted/announced as DE's and then moved.

Again, the only people acting as though Shazier is a big time never been seen since player are on here and OSU fan sites.

Shazier is a pretty good prospect but not sure about Top 15.

I wouldn't have him in the top 15 on my very Broncos-focused big board.

I'm talking 4-3 WLB/MLB's, not sack-artists. The only comparable player on your list is Aaron Curry and he was drafted in the top 5.

And I also said "last 5 years". Not since the beginning of time. Your rebuttals are getting a little ridiculous. I don't really wasnt any part in that. My original point was that there's no chance he's going to be there at #31, and I posted some evidence as to why.

It's a passing league, and getting a coverage LB is more important than a 3-down run stuffer.
Thanks for consigning!

I've posted a brief history of where Shazier stands in relation to other half-field LB prospects over the last 5 years, and how he is a statistical outlier even in relation to many blue-chip prospects at WLB in the last 10 years. Even if you refuse to consider the historical perspective, go ahead and google 'NFL Mock Draft' and see what pops up.

After a quick look, Shazier is ranked in the top 30 in all but 3 mock drafts and scouting services (out of about 20), including nfldraftscout.com, cbssports.com, nfl.com, espn scouts inc., and ourlads. What 3, you may ask?

Dane Brugler (CBS) - (has Cody Latimer and Derek Carr being drafted in the top 25, 'nuff said)
Daniel Jeremiah (NFL)- (doesn't even have Shazier in his top 32 and thinks the Broncos draft Ealy)
Walter Football - (has Carlos Hyde being drafted #26 overall by the Browns)

Even the so-called experts give Shazier a 10% of being drafted by the Broncos (and that's being generous).

A lot depends where Mosely goes.

If he goes before 21 where GB picks, Shazier could slide.

If Mosely goes in the 11-20 range, its probably unlikely Shazier falls to us.

I doubt either fall to us, I would know I do about 1000 mocks a day on fanspeak!

I prefer to continue to investigate candidates who have more than a snowball's chance in hell of being on the board at #31.

In all seriousness, I don't expect Mosley or Shazier to be there @31, I have my doubts now that Roby will plumit that one of the top 4 CBs are there. Hopefully we can trade back!

I think if I could have 1 defender from the first round it would be Clowney or Justin Gilbert. Then on offense I guess Sammy Watkins.

Are you saying you want us to take Roby?

I think he's off of Elway's board now.

I can maybe see Verrett there, Fuller/Dennard/Gilbert will be long gone.

all 3 of those guys will probably be gone by pick 15. Watkins and Clowney by pick 5.

I'd give Shazier a better shot than Mosely.

Both are slim to be there but players slip in every draft.
