Could be right about that. A game against the niners on opening night would be a tall order (and a big, pivotal game) for a team that in part is supposed to be celebrating on that night. A home opener against San Fran would be ok in my book, a big time matchup and a chance for us to make a big statement right off the bat. So many possible scenarios, who knows what the NFL will do.

Yeah, I would like to see us play @NE or SF at home either opening week or super early in the season. Regardless of who we play opening week, I would like to see us face our 3 or 4 toughest opponents in the first 4 or 5 weeks while we're healthy. I would still like to see us play maybe 1 or 2 of our toughest opponents later in the season (weeks 14 - 17) so we don't get too soft before the playoffs. I felt like that's what happened in '12.

I'm calling it right now: we're going to have at least 1 or 2 major injuries on D. Ware is old & recovering from surgery. Von & Chris Harris are coming off of ACL surgery. Vickerson is coming back from a dislocated hip. I just feel like there are too many fragile body parts on the defensive side of the ball not to expect adversity. That...and this is a pretty physically taxing game after all

I know. I'm being pessimistic. There's no realistic or logical way to predict which players will get injured or how. I'm more/less just emotionally bracing myself for the same adversity we had last season in the way of injuries.

Injuries are kind of random. We will be healthier week 1, but they will be too. We don't know that they wont have devastating injuries down the road.

I know you were focusing on the defense, but don't forget about Manning's head falling off his shoulders. We all know his neck is pieced together with chicken wire...

Crap. Why did you have to remind me? Clady's foot is going to shatter, too. Oh well, 2014 was probably going to be a good season.

Was reading earlier that our last 2 preseason games will be against the niners and cowgirls, in that order. Article stated a possibility of us practicing with the niners for the week leading up to it, which would most likely eliminate the chance of us turning around and playing them again in week 1.

Every year someone predicts our demise earlier and earlier. This year randerson1184 predicted it before the draft. Well done.

it's not gonna be a super bowl rematch. it never is. at least i don't think so.

we crapped the bed in the super bowl, so i just don't see us opening the season.

My money is on Niners/Seahawks, the game everyone is now calling the real super bowl. and yes, they are. it's terribly depressing.

I'd like to play NE in the opener.

Best team other than us in the AFC. It'll put our guys in a good head space right from the beginning. I like that we have a tougher schedule: trial by fire.

I'd rather play SEA later in the season as another test for the team once they've started to gel and whatever injuries are going to happen have happened so that it's a closer approximation to the team we'll be in the playoffs.

I think to a degree thats what happened the entire season last year. We just scored and scored and scored... until we got to the SB.

I'm looking forward to us having to go through the best in order to get there again.

If we go 13-3 again with that schedule, color me excited.

Yeah, this will be a tough schedule. I still think we'll win 11 or 12 games though. All joking & hyperbole aside, I'm excited to see our new D in action . We should have a great pass rush.

I'd love to set the tone for the queefs early but that will never happen so I'm hoping for the seacocks.

Well, from MHR per Mike Klis who I'm sure got it from some people he considers good sources. Highly speculated is probably a better term to use than confirmed. Either way, we aren't playing Seattle in the season opener. Not after how bad they kicked our ass in the Super Bowl.
