I would say that Montgomery wet the bed on that play....went to double instead of blocking straight up. Left Knighton unblocked and he blew up RGIII

Lol, that's our very own Kory Lichtensteiger, who Redskin fans are thrilled to have play Center, because Montgomery "is too small, and too weak". Montgomery is 312 lbs. (35 bench reps).

Lichtensteiger is 284 lbs.

Now, what does this signing of Montgomery mean, it may signify the team is worried that if Franklin loses out to Clark, and he absolutely will, that Franklin won't be willing to play LG and will quit on the team. This gives them a little bit of flexibility. If they are super worried that Franklin is going to be a distraction, we could hear trade talk soon, possibly even during the draft.
I'm confused how anyone could think with such certainty that Clark will beat out Franklin. Franklin has started over Clark for all three years he's been on the team. I don't see how that's going to change now .

Montgomery is no upgrade over Manny. Think what you want.

Does he need to be? This IMO is a move that is affecting the guard position.

Montgomery has played guard too. I think Fox drafted him to be one. Just gives some options i guess.

I'm not sure he's athletic enough to be a 3-down guy, but with that salary he's probably going to be our heady 2-down thumper. With Von and Trev flying around I don't think we'll have to rely on him making any huge plays.

Plus he's white and so he probably has a nonstop motor. Plus I imagine our massive DTs will be able to let him roam pretty free against the run. Savvy signing, Elway. Savvy signing. Keep em coming!

I agree. Or if he has experience at guard, maybe they bring him in and let it play out, see who's best fit for what position. Maybe HE replaces Beadles and Ramirez stays put. I think this pick up means we probably aren't going to pick a guard first round, especially with the possible Franklin moving inside talk.

Can't see Franklin suddenly being upset that he has to compete for his starting spot. That is life as a professional football player. His tweet has to be money related or being asked to switch spots to guard.

Will Montgomery was a very solid signing for the donks.

Dude started every snap at center last season for the Redskins.

Montgomery is versatile, as he's started at center, left guard, and right guard amongst his 63 career starts.

Mongomery just turned 31 years old, so he should have good tread left on the tires.

Playing the numbers game, I suspect he'll be looked at initially as a reserve C/G in back of Ramirez and Franklin. The broncos resigned Justice, seem to like painter, and obviously have clady and Clark. So while they might go to camp with 5 tackles with active roster potential, it would make sense that this is a sign Franklin is moving to guard

This signing enables the Broncos to be able to wait to address OL later in the draft.

1st round is setting up to aim for LB or CB.

A downgrade of what? He's been in the league since 2010 and started 20 of 56 games. He's a super sub but he's still a sub.

I think it's going that way too. God I hope Mosley falls to us, just so when we don't take him I can drop kick my current tv and go buy that new 60 inch I've been wanting but don't want to cough up the dough for.

Franklin is better than Clark but they are both FA after next season so it will come down to who will sign the better deal to stay.
