Default Now OL

OK, we have made some signings that will be impactful on the defense. What about the glaring SB issue ... the OL.

We get Clady back. Ramirez at C, Vasquez and Clark/Franklin at G , Clady and Clark/Franklin at T. Or some other deviation there of.

Beedles out, Clady in. Is this enough to overcome the abuse we suffered? It seems we are still a significant player short to control the line of scrimmage both to protect Manning or run the ball more effectively against teams like the Niners or Sea.

Picking at 31 usually doesn't guarantee someone that can step in and be impactful in year 1. Thoughts, because in the Elway years just prior to the SB wins, some of the most impactful additions were Zimmerman, Schlereth and Jones. The current group just doesn't measure up to the 97/98 guys.

Yup, going in to FA my two primary concerns were OL and pass rush. Hopefully Ware is a big part of the answer on the latter, now they need to figure out the former. They did try to sign Evan Dietrich-Smith, and are now looking at this Will Montgomery (who I don't think would be anything more than depth). So this may be a big draft target.

why is everyone convinced Clady is back? I'd say it's more like a 50/50 shot he's back and still be a top 5 LT.

Broncos LT Ryan Clady (foot, injured reserve) has shed his cast in favor of a walking boot.
It's just a sign that Clady's rehab is on schedule. Clady should be back to 100 percent well ahead of next summer's training camp. Mon, Nov 4, 2013 02:33:00 PM

I'm still interested if they can coach up Vinston Painter. That dude has all the physical tools to be a beast.

I think we are better than last year with the Clark/Franklin/Manny/Vasquez/Clady combo. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Elway draft a linemen in the 2-4th round that will push for a starting spot.

I'd like broncos to get a big fat LG that can hold his own to keep Manning upright. OL is the link that could stop this team next year.

Would suck if Manning is taken out by the poor play of a less than stellar G after all the cash spent on the FAs

The only reference I have is Champ came back too early from a mild LisFranc and Chad Brown while older had the surgury and said his foundation was never the same and a stable foundation / feet is needed for a LT

They are apparently really high on some of their prospects they've been developing - specifically Painter. Also I am very curious what happens to Ben Garland this season. He's a guy who was a long shot that they've stuck with for several seasons and two different administrations and he keeps finding a way to hang on.

Between what they've been working on and the draft, I am not expecting any kind of huge signing outside of a major injury or someone who is cut unexpectedly.

Not sure how reliable this guy is, so take this with a grain of salt.

Right after the injury he said "Clady will never be the same again". Now he's saying Champ's injury was worse because the way it separated, that Clady's injury is looking good at this point, but you can never tell until he plays full speed on it.

That's all I got, other than Von and Harris may never be the same players again, because most players aren't after ACL's. That Adrian Peterson is a freak of nature, who's body has remarkable healing properties.

All 3rd hand info, but it comes from someone close to the situation.

Champ had age working against him and probably should have gone on IR. Chad Brown's injury was several years ago. ACL injuries used to be pretty much the end for a football player. But advances in medicine have changed that. I think the same thing with lisfranc injuries. add in that unlike Champ, Clady has been out with his injury and getting treatments for almost 8 months. His injury will heal completely and he'll build the strength back up and be fine. Little rusty for a few games but he'll be fine.

Well it's been said in the past that Clady also has those special recovery qualities. And I believe Miller's ACL wasn't all that serious. Not entirely sure but I thought I saw something that said Miller's injury was the type that wasn't super serious and wouldn't require a lengthy recovery period.
