Doubt that DRC is probably out of the picture now, we had that same deal Talib took offered to DRC and he tried to negotiate more money. DRC was our first option. Talib was the backup plan.

so unless DRC suddenly gets humbled over night I bet hes gonna cash out somewhere else. He will probably be the next CB to sign.

we offered DRC slightly less than Talib. which is fair. he should have taken it. and my guess is he would have taken it after a day of haggling, but we went the other way.

Well that's unfortunate. Revis is still the best corner in the game, and was had for only a couple mil more than the rest of the field. Would rather have seen them sign DRC, but they really had no other choice.

It was reported that Elway pulled the contract offer after they signed Talib.

I am concerned about CB depth but DRC would have come in on another cheap one year deal if they even wanted him back.

Plus there is the issue of where to play him, it would force Harris into the slot and he was playing well last year until he went down.

Get an old Vet cheap later in FA, maybe after the draft, someone like Cromartie to replace Jammer and use as spot starter if absolutely needed.

we absolutely need another corner, but it's probably going to have to be a rookie.

We don't NEED another corner. We have two solid starters in Talib and Harris, as well as competent backups in Carter and Webster.

What they need is a middle linebacker to tie the defense together. That's what they're missing.

You do realize that it is more of a lateral move than anything right? Revis isn't much, if any, better than Talib.

Err...we probably need two more corners honestly. Four corners is not even close to enough in today's NFL.

Just saying it's not at the top of the list of needs, imo. They can sign a cheap vet for depth and draft a guy with hopes of developing, but they don't need to throw big money at a third corner.

I don't consider Webster as competent but I do hope he takes a big step this offseason and improves so that they can count on him as a role player this year. Great point about Carter, he won't be a starter but he is great depth especially when not giving up 6 or more inches to the bigger WR's.

I do think we need one more Vet CB though, he would have to come cheap.

your third corner is not a backup in the NFL. if you're confident in Webster playing 75% of the snaps on a super bowl team, more power to you. I'm not. regardless, four corners is nothing.

I'm secretly hoping for Brandon Browner on the cheap, but I doubt it.

Yep, that's true. There's actually a decent chance Kayvon Webster emerges as a quality starter next season. He certainly has the physical tools for it.

We got by last year with Carter and Webster trading time in the slot until Champ got healthy.

Where we need to upgrade depth is the aged vet like Jammer who was a complete waste of space.

I'm glad you said this. The mane often thinks players never improve. Kayvon could take the next step

your definition of getting by is different than mine. when DRC and Harris were both healthy, we were average against the pass largely because Webster and Carter were ****. when either of those two guys were hurt, we were completely awful.

I'd like to see them draft Lamarcus Joyner with their first pick. He's a guy who can play nickel or free safety, in the mold of tyrann mathieu last year. He'd give them a lot of scheme flexibility, and was a turnover machine at FSU.

After that they could address middle backer in the second round with a guy like Skov or Borland. Maybe pickup another wide receiver and rb in round 3 and 4. The great thing about all these signings is they don't have a whole lot of holes to fill through the draft.

There are very few certainties in the NFL. That said Webster was constantly just inches from making a play as a rookie. I don't think it's crazy to think he will develop enough to close that gap.

Beyond that, I fully expect them to bring in a cheap vet as insurance.

Repeat after me. Webster was a rookie. A rookie corner to boot. He will almost certainly be much improved in his second season.

I think Webster has the ability. He was in the right spot so many times last year, but was late turning his head. I think it will come together for him. I also think Denver will look to draft another CB this year.
