Default Peter King believes John Elway will be patient in HC search, will make run for Dan Quinn

Add the Broncos to the list of teams interested in Dan Quinn

The Denver Broncos high-powered offense was throttled by the Seahawks Defense in a 43-8 loss to Seattle in Super Bowl XLVIII.

With their head coaching job now available, the Broncos want to talk to the man responsible for orchestrating that beat down last February.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, the Broncos want to interview Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn for their head coaching vacancy.

Quinn’s defense held the Broncos – one of the most prolific offenses in NFL history – to just eight points, 308 total yards and forced four turnovers.

Denver must wait at least a week, possibly three, if they want to interview Quinn. With the Seahawks still alive in the playoffs, Quinn is off-limits for interviews until they are either eliminated by the Packers in the NFC Championship game this Sunday, or until after this year’s Super Bowl on Feb. 1.

Quinn has interviewed with the Buffalo Bills (since filled by the hiring of Rex Ryan), Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets. The Jets appear to be the leaders in the clubhouse for Quinn, who happens to be a New Jersey native and has previously coached for the franchise under Eric Mangini.

I can't see any reason why a top notch candidate like Dan Quinn would turn Elway's sales pitch down.Well, Denver should be a more attractive franchise than the competition, for sure.

Bears? Hell no, Cutler would get him fired in 2 years. Besides, I think Fox or Shanny would be a better fit if They want it.
Atlanta? Maybe, if he believes in Ryan, but the defense is a mess.
Jets? Got to be kidding! No QB, FO is a joke, and the media will crucify him after a very short honeymoon.
I think the Niners are set on Gase, so they're probably out.

I really believe the Broncos provide the most attractive situation available. A coach knows going in the entire organization is geared toward championships. They don't just pay lip service to it. With Manning or not, I would think most top notch coaches would jump at the opportunity here, which really wasn't the case in 2011 when Elway was first hired.

Who wouldnt want to come to a playoff team over a bunch of teams in disarray? If Quinn wants to be a hc, he couldnt ask for a better set up

I'm not sure why Quinn is supposed to be this slam dunk top tier coaching candidate. lets look at his situation: he works under a defensive head coach, his defense is unquestionably the most talented in the NFL, and he inherited it from the previous coordinator. does any of that scream fantastic coach to you?

why not Vic Fangio, or even Todd Bowles, if we're looking at defensive coordinators?

Yeah it is a double edged sword with Quinn. The only thing that stands out its his championship pedigree. Also I'm sure he can bring in some Seahawks players with him to play in this defense.

#Quinning

Don't like that he'd be a first time head coach, but I see the attraction. Can he make our d aaas aggressive aaas the lob?

1) Peter King is a ****ing idiot.

2) Of course Elway will be patient. We're not some dumpster fire franchise (hello Jets) we just need someone competent at game planning and discipline.

3) Quinn, Bowles, Fangio, Hamilton are all good candidates

Will he bring Earl Thomas?

Do you think they'd go for Denver signing DT and Dream then trade for Thomas?

Let's not forget Quinn's got some pretty good players on his side of the ball..... Just as Fox looked good with Peyton, Quinn looks good with Kam and the rest.

How much is coaching, and how much is the players?

One thing you can see though is the intensity, the swarming....and most importantly the tackling. I don't know whose idea it was, but having them train to rugby tackle was a stroke of genius. Tackling is a lost art in the NFL, the teams that know how to do it seem like stone wall defenses.

This so much. I wonder how good teams would be if most of the time the first defender to the play tackled.

MY only concern with Quinn is that he took over for Bradley for a great defense.

On the positive, he took over for Bradley, and then kept them firing at all cylinders, not easy.

My other top choice is Bowles, who I know from experience here in AZ that he gets guys motivated, he is a FREAKING MLB GURU (gets the guys in the right spots), and his players love love him.

Should be him or Bowles. Kubiak is not a strong enough candidate and we need our D to take a step to the next level given how loaded it is. Yeah Quinn has an awesome defence, but you could argue that those guys were largely unknowns and he coached them into an awesome unit

What I really want to make sure we do is get someone who is a HEAD COACH. The league is just full of great coordinators that simply can't be the the top guy, they basically end up as glorified coordinators for their team, and the overall team ends up rather rudderless. Great Coordinator is not the prerequisite for great HC. There are some really good coordinators available, so we don't need the HC to be one. We need someone who will be organized, can delegate, and can infuse a competitive winning attitude.
