Eh, he wasn't awful. He made tons of mistakes though and was drafted by another regime. Probably didn't get the love he wanted. I bet he just misses Denver.

He had a lousy first step. I said that when he was drafted and it panned out over the years. Best wishes Robert, perhaps the Giants will get more out of you.

Great backup and rotational guy. I hope he can capitalize on a tradition of good DE's in NY.

Never a career sack artist, but a good player nonetheless.

Here's a concept if you want game time: play better than the other guys.

Ayers was given every opportunity to suceed. He's just not that good.

If Ayers only notched 3 sacks, as a Tennessee senior, obviously he was drafted for his run-stuffing ability. I don't know why he has sour grapes. Sacking QBs has never been his specialty...

Clearly NFL coaches love to bench their best player, because no real coach wants to succeed in the NFL.

I guess he's not a 'big picture' guy.

I think of the draft where we had two first rd picks and blew both of them.,those should have been franchise stalwarts right now.

I really wanted Denver to resign him, honestly. I think he's much better than he gets credit for.

Jackson and (hopefully) Wolfe made him expendable, but I think he'll be a good addition for New York.

My wife refuses to be in a two block radius of me during the draft because of that particular draft.

Ayers ended up being a better player than I thought we would be, but man did we miss some A+ players. Orakpo, Cushing, Harvin and Matthews will always come to mind.

He was misused in the beginning by McDaniels, but has had every opportunity to succeed under Fox/Elway. He proved to be a valuable rotational DE, nothing more. Not worth a first round pick, and not worth much more than the vet minimum. We just have a few guys that we can replace him with in Malik Jackson, and Wolfe being healthy. Will probably draft someone on the 3rd day for depth as well.

That's the damn truth. Generally, people who don't rush well in college do not get markedly better at it in the pros.

Ayers wasn't a bust. He under-achieved, but not by a lot. He was serviceable.

Yes. And not to defend him, he just never should have been drafted where he was.
