I'm surprised this hasn't already been initiated by the "authorities". They can track the smart phones on board via GPS, just do it already.

I would like to apologize for my insensitivity to the plight of the people and their families on this plane. Often times when I am unable to deal with feelings or don't know what to feel as in this case where there are still so many unknowns, I use humor as my response mechanism. I clearly offended people with this response and I do apologize for seeming to be insensitive to the problems this is for those directly impacted. I send my prayers and wishes for well being for the families who now are living in a strange limbo state, not knowing what has happened to their loved ones. As for me, I suppose I will endeavor to not only wish the best for these people, but to no longer inject humor at moments where it is inappropriate. All the best to everyone today and everyday and may you and your family be safe.

Could be possible the plane had to execute a water landing and it remained relatively intact. Happened on the Hudson river.

It could have filled with water and sank. Passengers donned life vests before the landing and the incoming water pinned them to the ceiling and bodies clogged the exits. Happened on a hijacked flight in the 90s.

Just speculation. Prayers for the victims and families.

why is ANY pilot allowed/ capable of turning off a transponder?
THIS makes absolutely no sense to me !
this is either a loss of power that damaged all forms of communication (unlikely)
or a highjack, perhaps by one of the crew !
the black box has a weak beacon signal, it is not the same as a transponder.
in the face of all current technology, a missing plane is just bizzare

Im pretty sure that this only works if the phones are on and have a cell signal. Both are unlikely in the middle of the ocean.

bump, apparently, they may have found pieces of this missing jet floating around 100 miles east of where the plane lost contact. Hopefully, they can now locate the black (orange) box so that we can know what happened.

According to a WSJ article, Boeing knows that the engines were operating 4 hours past when the plane went off the radar. This is according to sources of USA officials investigating and Boeing.

Nothing is concrete until Gaffney tells us that Israel was behind the disappearance of the plane. MaGruder will let us know about the alien angle.

"But the huge uncertainty about where the plane was headed, and why it apparently continued flying so long without working transponders, has raised theories among investigators that the aircraft may have been commandeered for a reason that appears unclear to U.S. authorities. Some of those theories have been laid out to national security officials and senior personnel from various U.S. agencies, according to one person familiar with the matter. At one briefing, according to this person, officials were told investigators are actively pursuing the notion that the plane was diverted "with the intention of using it later for another purpose."
