Check this out...

Quote:
The emergence of Terrance Knighton locks him into one of the starting defensive tackle slots. At the other spot, 2013 1st-round draft pick Sylvester Williams will surely get a long look. Depending on what happens in the draft, that may not leave room for Kevin Vickerson, a two-down, mistake-prone (-7.5 penalty grade) defensive tackle on the wrong side of 30 and coming off a season-ending injury. Though his $2.3m cap number isn’t handcuffing the team by any means, Denver would still get $1.8m in cap savings.

Throw in an Allen too. Why not? It's early in free agency. And that type of defensive front...Ware, Pot Roast, Wolfe, Williams, Miller, Allen. That would be a nightmare for offenses. Who the hell do you double?

I look at this same as Allen, the price has to be more than reasonable for it to be a good signing. And that pretty much means it should be a short-term contract. The recent news makes me think it's Denver trying to leverage Allen into a team-safe contract tomorrow.
Makes sense, that is what I would worry about. Don't want to overpay on someone past their prime. I probably would prefer Allen, as he is likely cheaper.

The Ginger Hammer would change the rules and make it illegal.

I don't know why Vickerson graded out poorly, he's a solid player and he plays with a nastiness and edge to him that this D needs. He just can't take dumb penalties.

Today further proves that Schefter is head and shoulders above all the rest of the NFL reporters. He is breaking news several minutes before anyone else and earlier was a solid half hour ahead of local sportscasters in his information.

If we did cut Vickerson, I would like Peppers at SDE and move Wolfe inside.

That's his "penalty grade", not his overall grade. So a little misleading. I just thought it interesting that someone is speculating he could be a cap casualty.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense. He was Denver's best interior DL early on in the year. He had a bunch of dumb penalties, but he was fine as far his play on the field.

It has been "speculated" for a few weeks now. Personally I'd like to keep him!

It's PFF. A grain of salt is an overpay for their opinion.

has that speculation been propagated by the OM by any chance? Haven't read anything about it and it's especially unlikely given they would have to reach an injury settlement.

Deep threat Joe Morgan visiting the Chiefs. Who does he think will throw him the ball?

Ware, Vickerson, Knighton, Peppers

Ware, Wolfe, Peppers, Von

That's scary to think of Ware and Peppers! Peppers is good against the run so he could easily play LDE and kick inside on passing downs. Allowing Wolfe to get healthy and split some snaps with him, particularly obvious run downs, and to play inside on passing downs.

We could trot Harris and Webster out there then.
