He doesn't but that would assume he'd joined a competent QB and not Geno Smith.

Geno Smith is terrible, he doesn't realize the situation he's got himself in when it comes to big games for the Jets that's games against the Patriots he's going to be covered by Darrelle Revis all game and should he manage to beat him once or twice Geno will miss him anyway and fans will blame Decker.

I think he'll be a decent receiver. Nothing special or elite, but a guy who can catch 50-60 a year. He doesn't need Peyton to succeed, but he needs Peyton to be great.

What are you going on about?

Why do i care about Flowers, that guy is average and got scorched by any decent receiver he faced, we have Revis and Browner.

They've been saying this for 20 years. Most of those free agents must have ended up alright, or they would have more recent examples.

He will now be covered by the other teams #1 CB, something he didn't encounter in Denver. Geno Smith and good CB's = missing Peyton really quickly.

Lets predict the dropoff in his production:

Averaged 1200 yards receiving
86 Catches
12 TD's

The last two years...

I say he will be around 65 catches, 6 td's for around 900 yards.

If he had a decent QB or other receivers to draw attention away from him it would certainly help, but the dude is going to be constantly double-teamed and Geno won't be able to reliably get him the ball whenever he manages to get open. He's in for a rough few years most likely.

900 yards? With Geno Smith?

700 if he's lucky, he will be getting everyones top guy and getting doubled now.

Last year, the Jets top receiver had 523 yards and 3 TDs.

Definitely not Bob/ClamChowdah.... first, I think Bob would have choosen a new team and not posed as a Pats troll again. Second, Bob/Chode, whether or not the same guy, spouted off a bunch of useless and/or misrepresented statistics in his arguments.

Sonsofbelicheat is just a run-of-the mill Pats bandwagon troll.

He will also likely be force-fed the ball.

Decker is worlds better than any receiver they had last year.

Wish Decker the best...say what you want, while he did ask for the PI a lot, he never complained about not getting the ball while he was here...he's one of the higher character WR's in the league.

I think he'll get his yards and touchdowns. He can't do any worse than having tebow and orton as his QB.

He didn't exactly light it up before Manning, and that was with DT on the field. I don't think you fully grasp how bad the Jets' receiving corp is.

The title of the article does not fit the story, or what Decker actually said. Nowhere in the article does it say or quote him as saying that he doesn't need Manning to be great. The only quote from him about Manning was a positive one for both Manning and himself.

“Did he help? Of course he helped,” Decker said of Manning. “He’s a future Hall of Famer, but I think I am also a good football player. I think my skill set and my assets can help a team win football games, that’s why I am excited to be here in New York.”

Decker and the writer of this article should both be annoyed with some editor who was looking for a big headline.

I think for a WR changing teams, this has to be an NFL record for the biggest drop-off from the previous QB--from 55 TDs to 12 TDs. Decker's share of Geno's TDs would be about 5. I think that's pretty generous. It only leaves 7 for the other WRs, TEs, and RBs.
