Cincinnati Bengals. (Super Bowl XXIII). 1988 season: 12-4; 1989 season: 8-8.
Cincinnati started a long streak of losing with their 1991 Season mark and it ended with them making the playoffs in the 2005 Season.
Denver Broncos. (Super Bowl XXIV). 1989 season: 11-5; 1990 season: 5-11.
The Broncos would rebound to advance to the 1991 AFC Championship Game vs Buffalo
Buffalo Bills. (Super Bowl XXVIII). 1993 season: 12-4; 1994 season: 7-9.
Atlanta Falcons. (Super Bowl XXXIII). 1998 season: 14-2; 1999 season: 5-11.

If I believed in fate we should have won the SB after the Divisional loss the year before like in '96.

If the team implodes next year it is on Elway and Fox, I could see Manning going down with a major injury before that happens.

Shore up the D and make a showing vs the NFC West next year and we should be fine.

Its not like the 1990 team was bad bc they went to the afc championship in 91. How do we come back from a loss like that. The more players that leave the better i say. There are plenty of Free agents available. As long as we have Peyton. We went 8-8 after the redskins SB loss.

The last three Super Bowl winners haven't been back to the playoffs yet. It's the new curse.

So, this is kind of like that whoever plays the Eagles in their home-opener thingy?

The Steelers missed the playoffs both times after winning the Super Bowl. That's four teams this new curse has claimed since the Super Bowl loser curse.

The Pats didn't make the playoffs after winning their 1st SB.

Teams that snap the ball through the end zone on the first play of the Super Bowl are ****ting the bed 100% of the time.

5-11 if Manning hangs it up, 12-4 with Manning playing.

The think I remember about the 1990 team was they blew a lot of leads and the guy living on the billboard.

They'd have games seemingly in the bag, then they'd implode.

The last 6 super bowl contenders who have won an even number of home games over either a 3 or 4 season stretch were able to at least reach the conference championship game the ensuing season.

We need to drop exactly one home game this season to guarantee us a spot in the '14 AFCCG.

How is this a useless stat? A really good team (Broncos 1989) get embarrassed in the Super Bowl then go 5-11 the next season. Then make it to the AFC championship in 1991.

Although another lopsided SB was the Bears/Pats and the Pats went to the playoffs the following year.

how many Manning teams have you seen go 5-11 or miss the playoffs? I think we will take more losses next year, mainly because we will have one of the toughest schedules in the NFL. I think both the AFC West & NFC West will beat each other up next year and neither division will have a 1 seed coming from it and possibly no byes.

because it has no bearing on next year's season. it's like thinking a guy is going to get hurt because he's on the cover of a video game. but then a guy on the cover doesn't seriously get hurt so the rules of the supposed curse change. or a baseball team doesn't win a World Series not because they aren't good enough to finish, but because they are 'cursed.' Then they do win a world series and the 'curse' is somehow lifted.

kind of like how the chargers were 'destined' to win the super bowl this year because they beat the eagles on a certain week.

it's a coincidence that those teams didn't make the playoffs not a curse.
In the span of 25 years your OP only lists 12 supposedly 'cursed' teams.

The Broncos did it 88
The Bills did it 94
Chargers made the playoffs in 95
Patriots got back in the playoffs in 97

The issue with a lot of SB losers not making it back has more to do with the teams being a sort of one year wonder. Well built teams tend to still be competitive the next year....getting to the Superbowl is a hell of an accomplishment and is hard to do, which is why we should appreciate last season despite it's final game. Denver has been among the elite for 2 straight seasons, they aren't a one year wonder, so I'm not exactly concerned.

Bull****. Maybe curse is the wrong word. I think "hangover" goes more towards my point.

Especially for a team that got beat the way we did. It's like a kid getting beat up in the cafateria in front of the whole school. To think that kid wont come back the next day a little intimidated is bull****.

My point had more to do with the way we came out in 90 after the SF thrashing. I dont believe in the curse for SB losers but I think losing teams might face a hangover.
